This was in our paper this morning....positive action for a change.
Taser subdues London dog owner
A London dog owner, over heard "yelling and screaming"at his dogs, was tasered by city police and faces animal cruelty and criminal charges.
The man was not injured. The two dogs, boxers, did not suffer serious injuries.
Police were called to a home on Wharncliffe Road South yesterday about 9a.m. following a complaint about a disturbance. When police arrived, "a male could be heard yelling and screaming at a dog, followed by the sound of the male striking something in the apartment, then the sound of a dog whimpering."
Police knocked at the door, but the resident refused to open it and continued to yell at the dog, "followed by the sound of something being hit in the apartment."
The emergency response unit was called and officers tried to talk to the man, who eventually opened the door. Police said when officers tried to arrest the man, he struggled and a taser was used to subdue him.
The dogs, an eight year old and a 10 month old puppy, are in the care of the Humane Society of London. The dogs were checked by a veterinarian and "happily are going to be okay".
The man, 25, is charged with one count of causing pain, suffering or injury to an animal, obstructing police and resisting arrest.
 It make me feel so good that the police responded as they did to help those dogs...and that the neighbours cared enough to call the police in the first place.
