So, my area is full of lakes, rivers, ponds, and forest. My main goal the last few months has been scouting out fun Newf places for when we get our puppy (eventually).
I have 8 acres, 3 are manicured, 3 are wetlands and 2 are wooded. There is a large 3 acre pond which we have use of as its partially on our property and 115 wooded acres (approximately) that my closest neighbor owns and lets us use anytime as long as we dont cut an trees down...but of course...that just wasnt good enough for MY future Newf lol.
So first I found this lake about 10 miles from us that is huge, just under 700 acres of water, but there is boating on it, so I figured it might not be great for a Newf. After realizing that the lake was a bit to highly trafficked and also took a while to get to (about 20 minutes) I found this GREAT state park...1000 acres with a 165 acre lake that can be used for training dogs in retrieving or rescue according to state laws, and best of all...no powered boats allowed. So I figured swimming was an option and the hiking is great.
Soooo...anyway on to the duh part...This state park is just perfect, but it takes almost 25 minutes go get too....well my wife calls me today and tells me that we have been going the wrong way...it turns out she made a wrong turn out of our street today going to the farmers market and ended up at the state park...and get this, it is less than 2 miles from my front door! Boy do I feel dumb, Ive wasted a TON of gas going to that place lol! :uglyhammer:
