So, my area is full of lakes, rivers, ponds, and forest. My main goal the last few months has been scouting out fun Newf places for when we get our puppy (eventually).

I have 8 acres, 3 are manicured, 3 are wetlands and 2 are wooded. There is a large 3 acre pond which we have use of as its partially on our property and 115 wooded acres (approximately) that my closest neighbor owns and lets us use anytime as long as we dont cut an trees down...but of course...that just wasnt good enough for MY future Newf lol.

So first I found this lake about 10 miles from us that is huge, just under 700 acres of water, but there is boating on it, so I figured it might not be great for a Newf. After realizing that the lake was a bit to highly trafficked and also took a while to get to (about 20 minutes) I found this GREAT state park...1000 acres with a 165 acre lake that can be used for training dogs in retrieving or rescue according to state laws, and best of all...no powered boats allowed. So I figured swimming was an option and the hiking is great.

Soooo...anyway on to the duh part...This state park is just perfect, but it takes almost 25 minutes go get too....well my wife calls me today and tells me that we have been going the wrong way...it turns out she made a wrong turn out of our street today going to the farmers market and ended up at the state park...and get this, it is less than 2 miles from my front door! Boy do I feel dumb, Ive wasted a TON of gas going to that place lol! :uglyhammer:

You know we men don't need no stinkin directions:!rolling::!rolling::!rolling:

I always tell my wife...women get lost...but men explore...she said thats fine if you ride your bike...but at $3.99 a gallon (now $3.73) you are not exploring...you are lost. She just doesnt get it I guess.

Ya, what Liz said...when are you getting your newf?

And you might want to consider getting a topographical map of your area for future reference....:neener: will save you a bundle in gas money.....

Your gas is positively cheap over there, it makes me jealous. It went to it's lowest here in weeks at 1.28$/Litre.. which is 5.12$/gallon... makes me wish I had a tiny car of course, but then I wouldn't have room for my Newf..

Im waiting for a specific breeding of either of two males from my breeder, so far she doesnt have any immediate plans to breed either of them. We are guessing another 6 - 12 months :tequila: I dont know if I can take it lol

I saw that! I was up near just west of calgary about 3 months ago and the gas prices were pretty bad. Of course at home I drive a ford f250 (gas thankfully) so its still pretty bad.

:!rolling: :!rolling::!rolling::!rolling: I am glad to know that i am not the only person with direction problems. If I did not ride a horse in our woods i would be lost forever
They are smart and always get me home or back to the horse trailer

By the way diesel costs $1.77/ litre and our dollar is only 87c to your dollar

I promise, he will be worth the wait :D I am an expert on waiting as I have been waiting for over three years to adopt our daughter...still have about two years to go.

I was impressed that you admitted your error, too!
We had visitor's from Denmark and they said gas was about $9.00 a gallon, approx. conversion from liters to gallons and their money to US dollars. Their cars also get better mileage, from 45-60 miles per gal. So the technology is there, the US manufacturerer's just need to improve.

That is just too funny. Just out of curiosity how long have you lived there? I grew up in the town that I live in and moved away for about 8years and I am always finding new roads.
