I'm so sorry to hear that Byron is having such a rough week! I hope that he's home with you all soon and all better. Keep us updated on how the MRI goes!

So sorry to hear about your precious boy. You and him are in my prayers. On another note...I think you should push for xrays. They are not that expensive and he shouldn't need sedation for them...they should always be a precursor to an MRI for any dog or human injury. They can also sometimes indicate a place to look for possible issues on an MRI scan if you see a narrowing somehwere or possible bone spur that could have gotten lodged..you never know. I would just ask them to do xrays...he's your dog and bottom line you should be having the major input on his treatment...you are paying for it after all.

Please keep us updated and I hope your boy is ok. Prayers and good thoughts of a speedy recovery headed your way.

I had a dog with disk disease, and when it would flare up he would refuse food and refuse to move for a couple days. I think sometimes they know what it takes to heal themselves.

Hope he is feeling better and all this becomes a distant memory soon.

Olga, I can't imagine how worried you must be. Did this all start immediately after the candle fell on him? What kind of candle was it?
What time will they be doing the MRI?
Good luck! I hope it is just a pinched nerve or something and that he will be better soon. Sending lots of postive thoughts your way...

Thinking of Byron this morning - hope he's feeling better at the vets - let us know how he's doing when you have a chance.

Thank you all so much. They are doing the MRI now, so I wont know anything until at least 4 pm. His fever broke, and he is pain free which is good.
THey said they are starting to lean towards neurological disease and/or even meningitis so the MRI will provide them with the images of nerve tissues which xray cannot do.
Pam, I am not even sure if the candle did fall on him. I am an idiot - I left a 24 oz jar candle on a warmer, figuring he did not touch it for a week. I came home to find something that looked like a murder scene: the candle was red, so there was red wax everywhere, and 2 big pawprints right in the middle, however not a drop of wax on Byron (dont know how the little stinker managed that
So I am not sure if he did drop it on himself, or just the table.
To add "insult to injury", my dad said I told you dont neuter him, he probably got sick in the hospital. Thanks dad. As if I needed more guilt. I alreadt felt terrible for leaving him alone on 12/24. My MIL is scared of big dogs, and she says she know that Byron would not do anything to harm anyone but she still gets nerveous around him, so we had to leave him home when we went to her house. Arrgh, I was almost in tears leaving him home in Xmas eve, I so did not want him to be alone. SHe is very nice, has been praying to St. Francis for him, so she is not one of those terrible MILs, but I cant help but wonder if he would have been ok, had he been with me. Though I understand that if its neuro or meningitis, there is nothing I could have done. I just hope that its the same "hick up" that Bob M had with his dog, and he will have a long and healthy life after this. I was hoping to start working on his TDI after his neuter.
Oh, boy I think I am rambling again.
THank you so much for all your support, I donnow what I would do without you all

Aww, Olga, don't beat yourself up about this as it sounds like it would have happened no regardless if whether you left him or not. He is getting the best possible care now and hopefully he will pull out of this soon. I keep checking back for your updates and will continue ot pray for him.

Glad to hear his fever is down. I Will continue to pray for you and your boy. Let us know. Yes, sometimes things just happen. We can't control them, no matter how much we care for them or how careful we are.
