Where does your newf sleep?

Brinkley will not stay on the bed or the doggie bed we got for him placed next to the bed, he will lay for a short while on it, then he want to move to the bathroom or laundry room, both have tile, rest of the house is hardwood. He will nap a little on the hardwood but prefers to sleep only on the tile. Just wondering if this is unusual, have been working with him, but he only seem to be really rest comfortably on the tile floors. I was thinking of trying to locate a gel pad bed hoping it would feel cooler and might be easier for him to adjust to it.
Any ideas would be appreciated; first newf and all the others have always been bed sleepers.

Adding to this, we keep our bedroom colder than the rest of the house, most night it is between 58 to 64 degrees, we also keep at least one window partial open for fresh air. I know this is not the green way, but life is about comfort.

I've never had a newf that will sleep on beds, couch, dog bed etc...for long. They always find the coolest spot and stay there. Mine prefer the hardwood or tile floor. I keep my house very cool and they still prefer the tile or hardwood. Even as puppies, in the crate, they would move any blanket or towel out of the way and sleep on the cool bottom of the crate.

We keep our bedroom 50-55 degrees fall, winter and spring so Lola sleeps on the bed. If it's any warmer than that, like in the summer when we can't get it that cool, she sleeps on the tile floor.
I should also add that she does not have an adult coat yet so she doesn't get quite as hot...YET

Angus sleeps on the bedroom floor..... or the tiled bathroom floor.... or, if it is really HOT here, like 25º C, he will even sleep in the bathtub. If he ever gets on a bed or couch he doesn't stay there very long.

At 8 1/2 months old we still crate Scarlet at night...I bought a super duper deluxe crate pad, but she just pushes it off to the side...She loves to lie on the cool hard plastic bottom of the crate.....Go figure!! And I might add you have quite the adorable pup!!:new_smilie_colors1::new_smilie_colors1:

tile, marble, bare wood floors for the most part. he also sleeps on the couch and comfy chairs, but always resettles on the floor. no interest at all in a doggie bed of his own!

Mine all start on the bed, except Oreo, whom prefers to sleep in the Dining Room floor. Oreo will on occasion want company and will come and be snuggly on the bed. Everyone else will get on and off the bed during the night, depending on how warm they get. Ricky Likes to sleep in "His House" which is by the bed. We have been trying to get him out and about, but he prefers his "Beddie." The crate is lined with a posterpedic vinyl covered pad.

So I'm under the impression that Newf puppies should be kept OFF of tile and other slippery floors for the safety of their bones and such, right? Like, you're supposed to have carpet or rugs down when they're puppies...so how old do you wait to bring out the nice slick floors?

During the day the Pups sleep on the tile or marble floors..at night, Ty still sleeps in the crate and it has a "pad" sort of but that is to give him a bit of traction when he was younger. Tsunami sleeps on the tile floor in our room (this is Germany, the whole house is tile). I will also add that our room is COLD. We have a fan going and the window wide open so our room gets to be in the 40s if not colder. I will say this though We are freezing under two down comforters and a mink blanket but the puppies stay asleep until 8 or later in the morning.. We are having to kick them up and out the door.

Hagrid stays outside during the day, he has a big covered area which he
only uses when it is throwing it down with rain.

At night he is crated in the cool of the conservatory.

Tank started off sleeping in her crate right beside my bed. I guess around 5 months old she started to want to sleep by the front door or the front part of the hallway by the girls' bedrooms, Those are her two favorite spots....it is not tile but looks like it...it may be marble floor. Some mornings she will come and lay on the floor in our bedroom but does not stay long. I was extremely nervouse about giving her the freedom of the house at night, but she has not had an accident and only chewed one leg of a chair. :)

This is exactly why ours sleep in the kitchen where they can move around all night without bothering us. Crate/bed or tile floor or throw rugs whichever they want and whenever they want and no waking up mommy and daddy. As far as the slick floors are concerned, they need to learn how to walk on them, but the running/falling/crashing is where the problem comes in, especially as they get larger. Ours (all full grown) aren't allowed to play much in the house, and we have mats and carpeting or rugs in all areas. We even have outdoor ridged runners going across the deck for our old girl.

During the summer months, Anya will sleep wrapped around the toilet. Now that it is cooler, she will come up on the bed with me. Eden sleeps on the floor or the couch. Rogan has a bed in the corner but he would prefer to sleep on the bed.

Ours have dog beds in the bedroom, and they alternate between the dog beds, the floor next to the bed (carpeted) and the bathroom tiled floor. When we were planning the new bathroom the designer asked us if we wanted radiant heat under the bathroom floor, and we said "NO! The dogs would hate it!" *laughing*

In the mornings, after Sandy has left for the gym, the boys climb up into the bed for snuggly time with me.
