Mary replied to me and is forwarding the info to River King. I guess these two are in their area. I sure hope they find a good home.

I would defiantly take one or both but have all I can so to care for Morgan and my family at this time. Poor dogs and family...I know what their going through :(

Did anyone look at the map below the two dogs listed? I clicked on the Newf in FL:

Dolly has two bad ankles and two torn ligaments (dog word for ACL? forget the term). The specialist I took her to said it's most likely a birth defect since both hind ankles have the same malformation. One ankle is worse, bent at a 45 degree angle. This dog is the light of my world and it breaks my heart that she is injured. The cost of her needed surgeries totals around $16k. I am a graduate student, currently unemployed, and have no way of flipping this bill. She is not in pain, I have her on Rimadyl, but she does limp and I can tell her life would be better if she could have the surgery. I would be willing to part with her only if I found someone who could give her the surgery she needs and the affection she deserves. Dolly is the sweetest, most affectionate 112lb dog you will ever meet. I also have her litter mate Sam, and she is very tender towards him. They love to rough house, but she also cleans his face and watches over the other animals in the house. She will try to cuddle on your lap, and prefers to sleep in your bathtub. Her gentle nature made us want to train her as a therapy dog, but her injuries have put that on hold. I list her as having hip dysplasia only because that is the closest option available in the list.
There is a girl named Lille in TX (in a kill shelter) - the person that listed her, called her a Newfoundland Retriever. Not mix, just Newfoundland Retriever.
But this is her petfinder info:
Very loveable pup, needs a family willing to give lots of love and exercise. Lilly is only 8 1/2 months old. She is a beautiful Newfie. She has completed her basic obedience training and was given to a couple who had a small dog. Apparently as a puppy, she was considered too big to play with the much smaller dog and so she was relinquished to the shelter. Her only known health problem is a cherry eye. She is a very sweet, loving girl who deserves a wonderful family to love her

And Mica in Kansas City, KS (looks terribly sad in the photo).
Mica definitely needs a new home. Mica came from a Newfoundland breeder. She was retired after her first litter, due to one of her pups having a heart condition. She has not been found to have the condition. She comes from a very loving, yet busy home. Needs a loving family with time to care for her. Breeder kept her papers. Therefore, papers not available from current owner.
Mya in Franklin, VA:
Mya is 5 1/2 yrs old, 125lbs and an absolute sweetheart. When I adopted her I was living in a house but have recently moved to an apartment and cannot keep both my dogs and my Maine Coon. I hate to get rid of her. I am keeping my other dog and cat.
:( :( :( :(

I have never seen this website before. I presume you can just post your dog on this site if you want to find a home for them.

Edited to add:

Nevada:
Gentle Giant....we rescued him and now have to find him a new home as my daughter has developed asmatha and it is too hot in Henderson for him to be outside. He is a sweet heart and amazing with dogs and kids. I am willing to drive a distance to help bring him to a new loving home.
Wish I could rescue all of them. :(

The word was put out on FB about Lilly and she was quickly adopted! Apparently, she had several people on a waiting list for her within hours of the FB posting. :)

A few years ago while I was searching for a newf I came across this site. They've recently started emailing about rescues they have listed according to your breed preference.

You said it best Vicky...
I so don't want to be judgmental - I really really don't - giving up an animal to a better home when you can no longer manage is the kindest thing for the animal, and a hard thing to do. But bless me "too much hair" ???? That kills me.

We so much want to add an older girl to our motley crew, We'd be quite happy to take two (we live by the rules of Irish families *snicker* "there's always room for one more!") .... but darn it all we've got to get through the next 6-9 months, find and get moved to the farm first.

I emailed the guy in NV to our NCNC rescue chair, I think they cover NV too. There is also one in AZ, but that would be under the AZ club or So CA. So hard to see all these unwanted Newfs out there, for whatever reason.

If anyone is interested in the IL newfs, I will help with transport.
You are so kind!!! I may be interested, but I live in Maryland. I have been approved by River King, so if they do take them, I will be in contact with them. I may check out the listing of a Newf in VA too.

I'm actually very, very close to Somonauk....like 15 minutes. I'm in for helping with transport too, if need be. Even if just to get them to Lori who is probably an 1 and a half from there.

Well I've contacted River King, so we'll see if they reply. If so, I will be getting back to both of you. THANK YOU!!! If anyone hears anything, please post it. I'm just hoping they get incredible homes. That would be justice!!!

I clicked on the link again and they are not listed anymore. Anyone know if they were rescued/adopted?
