Survey: Vet Cost

Just curious to see what the charges are around the country for just an office exam. Nothing else. Just the fee to be seen by the vet. Make sure you include the general area that you're in.

I'll start :)

Charlotte, NC area - $50ish (this ranges from $42 to $56, but on average about $50)

33.00 here to see the doc. Though sometimes they give me a break and just charge me for services, since I am sure I have put at least one of their kids through college over the past 20 years!

ok....this isn't right! Back in January I paid $57 for the annual but when Zeke went in for x-rays the charge was $65 because he considered it a pre-surgical exam. Central Jersey

Yeah, I'm curious now as to why my area seems so much more expensive. :\

The bad part is that I am considering fostering for SENC because they need foster homes urgently, but last time, with Hera, we discovered that vet bills in my area are bad. It takes more money out of rescue funds to go to vet here than if someone in another area were to foster and take the newf to the vet there. :(

Lauren ask if they will give you a break and do things at least at cost - most vets will for fosters at least a certain amount of times.

You mean for a foster? Didn't you say you knew someone in Charlotte that works with foster programs?

Around $35 - $40 here on the Eastern Shore of MD, and that's for a 30 minute block of time. Some places only block 15 mins.

$36 here but, I think our vet is on the low end of the scale and he often waves the fee for long time clients if there is more involved (ex-rays, meds, etc.)

$45 here in Columbus, OH. If it's a recheck on something it's $22. It's $69 for the cardiologist Murphy sees. I have had times where my vet waves the fee. You'd pay much more if you went to a human doctor so just try to keep that in mind before getting upset. They do have to make a living and pay back huge student loans.
