Leonard and his bud Snuffles

As most here knew from my thread on Monday, Days May Be Numbered, Snuffles went to the Rainbow Bridge Tuesday afternoon about 4:20PM with *Grandma* and me as well as the owner of the Pesky Little Varmints, and a friend from down the street who took almost all the pictures of Snuffles' last day including my final Avatar here at home. Thank you Dr Reardon and Techs Kaylee and Jenn of Northgate Pet Clinic for coming to the house to make those last movements on this earth as peaceful as possible.
For the newbies here, Snuffles was our first ever dog. He came to us a bit over 2 years old on June 29, 2006, but I knew him since he was 8 to 10 weeks old puppy. You can see a synopsis at Snuffles is mine!!!
Snuffles really grew on my mother. She was "Newfed" and worried about Snuffles in some ways more than I in the latter years. Just about all the rules of moving here pretty much went by the wayside within a year or 2. After Snuffles blew his left ACL in September 2014, the most off limit room was his room since it was carpeted and the closest to the door to the outside. It is also the same room he went to the Bridge in.
I think in the entire about 9 3/4 years here only spent one night apart other than when I tore up my knee and he had to live with "Aunt Ellen" about 6 weeks.
Ironically, the last dog friend to see him the morning of going to the Bridge was the newest "Pesky Little Varmint" in his life, a puppy that recently came to our block in late January. The son came walking this way, not knowing I had called his their Mom to tell her the bad news.
I never had heard of the Rainbow Bridge till I joined Newf.Net, but when I saw this, The Meaning Behind Rainbow Bridge, I loved it so much, and posted it here. I hope this is the way it really is!
Thanks to Newf.Net for all the support over the years and glad to have met a few from here in real life.
To finish up here, a few pictures from Snuffle's last moments on this earth.
I have been sleeping on the floor in the living room since Snuffles blew his ACL. When we normally got back from our last walk of the night, Snuffles would lay on my bed till I went to bed, then go to one end of the room or other. That night after struggling to get him out and back in and never got off the porch, this is where he ended up and never got up without help after.
Lots of loving.
Our final goodbyes and treat. That is Dr. Reardon leaning by Snuffles. See you at the Bridge Snuffles. I REALLY miss you!
