Scruffy

I haven't posted pics of our boys in a while, so I thought I'd share. Since these we've had a few major brushing sessions, and bathtime is around the corner. Clean and fluffy is great, but I love scruffy too :)

Boaz's floof actually actually parts down the middle

Elvis' floof parts down the middle too, but it just makes him look like a nerd. I love Boaz' highlights. I've never seen a Brown in person, do they all have such awesome coloring?

Well, it's about time I get to see these guys. Thank you so much for sharing them. They are both such handsome devils!

Thanks all!

I've only ever seen one other brown in person, but it was a puppy. Boaz's hair is so completely different than Ty's. It's much finer and so much more inclined to tangle. He's almost 2 1/2 and I swear he still has some puppy fur. And it seems to bleach out very quickly. He's the reason I have a hundred (ok, a lot) of different types of brushes and combs, trying to make my job a bit easier. I've decided he's going to be shorter  from now on.

They are gorgeous boys!! I got to meet them at the 2010 Newfiepalooza and they are just as adorable in person!

I love scruffy Newfs! For what it's worth, now that we have two Newfs of different colors ourselves, I've found that the brown fur is WAY harder to manage. His feathers, in particular, are drier and more apt to tangle (he also has the dreaded Yak Butt). Our Landseer's fur, on the other hand, is silky soft. Is Ty's fur a lot softer than Boaz's? Anyway, your boys are gorgeous:) There's nothing like a big shaggy dog!

Thanks. Yes Ty's fur is silky soft and wonderful! If I neglect his grooming (yikes) for weeks, it would still only take me 15 minutes to brush him through tangle free and purty :) Boaz's hair is dryer, kinkier, and very fine. Thankfully they both love to be brushed, and Boaz loves, loves the high velocity dryer.

So I'm guessing it's a brown thing. I spend countless hours on Zeke and could still comb out a poodle each time! And same with Myra done in about 15 minutes. I need to trade up on my dryer!!

We had Chewie clipped short for the summer (both for his sanity and ours...he's miserable in the heat and the cut helped a lot), but the texture of his coat looks just like Boaz's (his floof also grows out a bit like that, though not quite as awesome). Interesting to think it may be a brown thing, at least in part. Dawn, I feel your pain! It takes FOREVER. Chewie gives me the stink-eye as soon as he sees the brush and comb. I don't know why, since he spends so much of the day pretending to be a rug anyway...it's not like it requires a lot of energy on his part!
