She is beautiful!! I think I would go with Dory (that is the name that caught me when I first looked at her picture.

Awww... she's just darling. I don't have a name preference, tho. I almost always got to know my pups a little before naming them (or at least giving them their "call name").

I can understand how they got so attached to Gilly. That often happens with the runt. They're SO little, yet so spunky and determined. That's often why they survive. I wish him and them the very best.

I don't know...after thinking to myself that I was getting "Gilly" (Gilligan), I would have a tough time shifting gears (that's my age catching up to me!).

What about calling her Gillian, and still keeping the nickname "Gilly" (pronounced like "Jilly")?

I agree with Donna. Have some names picked out, but wait to get to know the pup first before naming them. Bogie, the Lab, was supposed to be Max, but as soon as we picked him up, we knew he was not a Max, but a Bogie (named after Humphrey Bogart). Then after having him for several weeks, he still did not have a registered name. He was quite a character (that's an understatement!) and DD was watching Humphrey Bogart's High Sierra. Bogart's character's nickname in the movie was Mad Dog and DD thought Bogie was a "mad dog", so his registered name became High Sierra.

Congrats on your little girl. She looks so precious!

Sorry it didn't work out for you, but it seems like Fate stepped in when the breeder's husband had a health problem and Gilligan belongs with him. I love the name "Dory"....a small fishing boat in Nfld.,but I'm sure other names will come to you as you get acquainted with your new girl. Can't wait to hear all about her. Congratulations!

Gee Chantel, I'm sorry you're not getting Gilly, but on a positive note, He is staying where he will be much loved and well taken care of. Make sure you keep in contact with the Breeder to see just how BIG the little guy gets.
His little sister is cute as a button. Can't wait to hear all about her. Females are a lot like teenage girls, Affectionate with Attitude.

Awww... she is so precious! Just a sweetie pie! I too agree that you can get to know her first. It took us 2.5 weeks to name Noah and he knows it just fine now even though it hasn't even been 2 weeks that we named him.

I can't wait to see more picture of her once you get her home. Obviously you are meant for this little girl and she for you.

Take care,
Rachel

I love the name Jilly and we thought of it for our new female puppy based on your name of Gilly. Hope you don't mind, but it is on our list....
