Question about Glucosamine/Chondroitin supplements

I give Cooper and Zuzu human grade Gluc/Chon supplements. They each get 2 per day.

So my question is, is it better to give them both pills at one feeding, one per feeding, or does it not matter? I guess I'm wondering how their bodies metabolize and use it, to understand whether it's better to give one full dose or split the dose.

Thanks!

When I was giving tablets (3/day) she got them all at once. Now we are doing Newf Warrior mix which she gets in every meal (so 2x per day). It has all the gluc/chon she needs.

Have you seen an improvement with it?
I'm not sure yet. We just started about 2 weeks ago. So far its going well and its easier to give than the pills and it has lots of great stuff in it. It's just a powder that goes on her food. Her energy level increased a ton when we gave up kibble, so I'm not sure what else I'll see with this...

I am almost afraid to ask this and seem dumb...but when should this be started?
I've always had Cooper on it but I got him when he was 2. I think we started Zuzu around 6 months but truly I do not remember.

I get the Glucosamine/Chrondroitin human tabs from Costco. You'd have to check the dose for a puppy..

My vet specializes in Newfies (we drive over an hour because of this!) and says you don't really need to start until they develop arthritis. Basically his position is the supplements won't prevent anything, just treat existing conditions. Has anyone else heard this?
