Good Morning All,
I am Buford's mom, Maria.
Buford is 5 months and one week old. I fell in love with him 20 some years ago as I was driving down Route 73 in NJ and saw the most precious faces in the world.
~ A belated "Thank You" to whomevers driveway that was that I pulled into! (If you're out there, you know who you are...)
Buford doesn't allow me much computer time, so I'd better go for now. By the way, has anyone seen Buddy's (the turtle) krill? It seems to be missing from the top shelf of the bookcase...

Hi Everyone,

I just joined and am looking forward to learning more about this great breed. We got our first newfie, Kyra, at 8 weeks. She's now 9 months old and has completely captured our hearts. We previously had Great Pyrenees dogs so we're used to big dogs, but the Newfie personality is very different.

Nice to meet everyone,

I am a 27 year old professional architecture/landscape photographer from St. Louis Missouri. My girlfriend and I have a 12 week bronze male Newf (Jax) and he is a character! We both have been wanting a Newf for a few years now and we finally bought a large enough house for the breed. Both of us are experienced dog owners but are very happy that we found a active forum such as this to help us out. I already have a ton of questions that I am very anxious to ask. I look forward to chatting with all of you

Hi all,
My husband John and I are Newfoundlanders and have been married for 35 years. We got our 1st Newf - Black Rock's Thor,CD 03 April 1977 - 30 years ago now! Thor was before our sons (now 28 and 24)came along. We did conformation, obedience, and carting with him. Thor died when he was 11. Then we got Romac's Kelligrews - Kelli on the right in the photo. Kelli died 5 years ago, also at age 11. Beardog's Bonavista - Bonnie, was 3 when Kelli died. Bonnie is not well - she has Cushing's Disease. One of the reasons I joined was to see if anyone else has had a Newf with Cushings. Bonnie also is blind in her Rt eye from gluacoma and has an artificial eye since last August. We don't know how much longer we will have Bonnie although she is still going to festivities for a Seniors Walk tomorrow on special invitation as the Mascot for AtlanticVoices.ca here in Ottawa (you can see her photo on the web site). She was swimming and retrieving in the river this morning. We have a reservation in for a puppy from a litter due on Bonnie's 8th birthday on June 28th as long as there are 4 females in the litter. We're 4th on the list for a female. The other 3 are being taken by two breeders.
Guess that's us in a nutshell!

We currently adopted our first Newf - Katie Nana and I am hooked! She has the most beautiful eyes.I will now forever have at least one Newf in my life. Other than that we have a lab/Akita mix Simieon that we got a month after we were married and a cat Phoebe.
Thanks Annie for letting me know about this place and for all your help. You have been great and very helpful.

Hello,
My wife and I just got our first Newfoundland in May. Maggie is a wonderful 18 month old puppy. We are both teachers and spend a lot of our free time in the summer at my camp in Northern Ontario. We are also expecting our first child soon and look forward to that experience. I know that we will have a lot of questions and look forward to visiting this board often.

I can't remember if I did this...
My name is Terrie, I'm a Correctional Officer in the Lower mainland of BC, Canada.
Tug is one of 12 puppies that Sienna (a rescue) gave birth to in my living room.
http://www.dogster.com/dogs/428489
I realized I couldn't give Sienna what she needed and found her a home, and I wasn't going to keep any of the pups... Well, best laid plans and all that. Tug centred me out and wouldn't leave me alone till I realized we were meant to be together.
I didn't realize, of course, that he was part NEWF! And I didn't know anything about Newfs till I started researching what he could be, and the options were endless; Chow, Lab, Setter, Shepherd, Shar Pei, Chesapeake bay retriever...
At 7 months old now, and over 90lbs, he's still not the biggest of the litter.
But I'm glad that his predominant breed seems to be Newf:

Thanks for everyones help; I appreciate it a lot.

Hello--

Our names are Carla and Justin. We are the proud owners of an 11 month old Newfie...Samson. This is our first Newfie, so we are really excited to be a part of Newf.net to learn and discuss all the joys of having a Newf. We took Samson to the Paws and Claws water training event on Saturday, July 14th at Camp Moore in New Jersey. We met so many nice people who were more than helpful in letting us know where to find more information and events for our Newf. I would like to thank Marla for hanging out at the event with us. We look forward to being a part of the Newf community.

Hi I'm Ceara and I've 2 landseer newfies, a 2 year old male and a 4 month old female and they are the best dogs I've ever had. The look of love in their eyes when we're playing in the evenings is just fantastic. The first one was a baptism of fire but I've gotten used to the hairy wet house so I've two now! I'm delighted to find this forum as I don't think there's too many newfie owners in Ireland and its great to learn more about caring for them.

Hello to all and big hugs to all the lovely Bears!

I live on the south coast of England and am sadly without a Newf at the moment. I used to have a beautiful Newf called Treacle, who sadly died about 8 years ago now, aged 14 years and 2 weeks. We have remained totally dogless and are likely to be so for the time being because of work commitments. It is so unfair to leave a Newf without company for long periods.

Treacle was first and always a pet. I did show her and work her, however and she was frequently placed at Championship Shows, including Crufts, although she never won a 'ticket'. She was Best Bitch at the Newfoundland Club Limited Show on year. Intelligent and gentle, she was a great ambassador for the breed and wonderful with my two children, even when they were very tiny. I shall try to find some photos to post - how I wish we had digital photography then!

I shall enjoy reading about your Bears and looking at the lovely photos to get my 'fix'. Retirement for one of us is not too far away now and we have a house that is walking diatnce from the harbour. Hopefully it won't be too long before we an offer a home to a rescue bear.

Hi everyone,
My name is Judy and my husband Earl and I have been hitched for 42 years -yikes - I'm so new to the world of computers and this internet thing, please forgive my blunders - I'm sure there will be many....
I'm a 2-legged Newf, yes I come from the Rock. We have one Newf at the moment, she is a rescue named Terra. We usually have two but lost our big boy about a year ago, our precious Jake. We miss him so much.
Since I know zilch about these beasties, it will be awhile before I learn to add pics, but as i say, please be patient, this old brain ain't what it used to be.....
It's nice to be here and thank you for posting the Welcomes.

Judy, Earl & Terra

Hello. I feel and am REALLY new - I'm not even sure if I'm posting this right. My name is Laura and I have a 15 week old newfie. I have owned 2 goldens over the past 26 years and with the last (fairly recent) painful parting, my family decided to get a Newf. My hub and I wanted a bigger presence around my 15 year old daughter, who likes to jog in the nature preserve ajoining my property. My daughter had done a report on Newfies years ago and has been asking for one ever since. One son is home from college for a semester and EVERYONE has been working together with this little pup. I feel like this forum is a life line that I will use if in need. Thanks to you all for your Newfie news and advice.

Hi everyone
, I'm new here but have been lurking for awhile, love to read all the posts. My name is Mia, I have a Newf named Arki who will be 6 years old on ThanksGiving. My son calls him Sparkles because when the "slingers" dries they sparkle. Will never forget the day my 7y old daughter came running to me sooo exited, Mamma, there is a heart shaped! slobber on the tub!!!We also have Dannie, a 11y old little terriermix,[she is ofcorse the boss in the house] 2 cats and 2 house rabbits [a neatherland dwarf, and a loop]. Living with a Newf [the hair] is no problem for me since I am a groomer, for the last 19 years have I been "covered" in hair, that is how long I been grooming dogs and cats. I'm thinking about getting a pup about a year from now and have to admit I'm have done some research on the Bull Mastiff, but the kids are voting for another Newf! We'll see.
