Chumley... What are you doing???

Stacy, might I suggest a seat belt for that pooch of yours? Glad all is well.. And, having suggested a seat belt, I will add that mudji had one and then started to CHOMP on it and bite through the important bit, so it was not as effective anymore...

Silly Chumley!

So sorry this happened, but glad it had a happy ending. This happened to a friend, and we were amazed at how small a crack the window was open that a big newf could squeeze through.

Before I got him, Sam jumped out a half-open car window and ran to a playground full of children. The kids saw him coming and ran off screaming, "A bear, a bear!" (Think it may have been at a campground.) By the time they had parked the car and gotten to Sam, he was alone, not a kid in sight. 😄

Glad Chumley is ok! 💚

Oh wow Stacy, that is so scary!!! I am so glad Chumley is ok and thank you for sharing your story. We all do things that looking back on, we realize weren't our best move. I'm just glad you are both ok. Hugs to my boy! Xo

I also have mesh expanders that fit into the windows (keeps noses in and allows airflow)..........And we even have to "kid lock" the doors as Katy will open the windows, that is the problem with assistance dog training, they love buttons..now she won't try to get out, but we have found others hanging in the breeze (heads out completely), at speed and that is also scary and they could get eye dmage even if they cannot get out due to being tied in........

they surely test us. Life with two ten month old newfies is an adventure all in itself. harry is full on mischief and yussie gladly helps. I do remember telling my clients that they should not get a next dog until the one before is well trained (Yussie was not quite up to a good standard) and also never to get two pups of the same age.......LOL do as i say not as I do, is the case here :)

This happened to me once with my Golden. I was taking him in an SUV with his leash still on and the windows half open in the back seat. He was 2 years and had ridden like this daily with me. Suddenly on a country highway he saw a cow along the ditch and leapt from the window, right in front of an oncoming car, and he actually bounced! Thank God the leash didn't get caught on the way out or he would have been strangled! The other car stopped in time and helped me, and my baby only had some bruises and road rash, but BOY did I learn a lesson! No more leashes on while riding and all in crates now!

I'm glad this had a happy ending. Everyone makes mistakes. Two times my dogs have gotten free due to just this kind of situation. I am so sorry for your terrible scare.

I am sorry that happened but glad it turned out alright.
I have never been one to open my car windows while the dogs are in the car, I am not to comfortable doing that.
