It is 90 something out side and 80 something inside. Yes I am very used to air conditioning. The heat pump died this morning. We usually keep the temp around 62 to 64. UGH!!!!!!! We ran by Wally world and bought a couple fans. I refilled the baby pool with fresh cool water for the furkids to cool off in. Kashmir had to help. Tonight I was refilling her water jug/bowl thingy from my bath tub. She was helping, as you can imagine. She was drinking from the tap then decided she could drink better from inside the tub. I just let her play in the water. She would splash around the tub, climb out and run into my room, run back into the bathroom and climb back into the tub. What a goofy (smart) girl. I am just afraid she will figure out how to turn the water on, and not turn it back off. Can you say flood??????

While not quite that hot, we would be more than happy to take some of that. Around here it seems we went from Spring to fall, with two days of summer.

I feel for you...We went through the same thing a couple of years ago when my 32 year old (!) central heat and air unit finally kicked the bucket.
It got up to 84 degrees in the house. I had fans everywhere, but all they did was blow the hot air around.
Poor Hannah suffered with her massive coat...I finally shipped her off to my groomer friend's house. Gabe and Sophie seemed to handle it better. I gave in and bought a small window unit for my bedroom at Sam's. We pretty much stayed hunkered down there where it was at least tolerable.
Hopefully you can get someone out soon to do necessary repairs...Took them almost a month to get around to us....

I have a portable AC unit for emergency use. Our AC has gone out in the past...and that is NOT good around here. Fortunately we have two zone heat pumps so if one goes...the other us okay.

The only issue is if the power goes out. That's miserable!

Hopefully you can get your system fixed soon. If it'll be a while, maybe you'd want to consider either a portable unit...or a window unit...in the BEDROOM...so you can rest at night (and the dogs can too).

That 1st heat wave we had in May, my ac blew, got it replaced before the summer heat comes, Merlin needs his comfort, if you are going to have newfs, better have ac! Its been cool here ever since, alt of wet weather.

we have 3 extra window units here. Have this big dinosaur of a house if the central goes out there has to be something. If you dont have extra AC untis you can always buils sheet tents and blow fans in them, it works great, creates a cool spot for the dogs

You're an awfully nice momma to let her dash in and out of the tub, splashing all around the house!

Yes, it has been quite hot...and also much more humid than usual. Hot is OK, humid is unbearable. Hope you get your A/C fixed soon!

Our heat index for today is supposed to be 105. We'll see. Lots of humidity early so our walk was short. Since we live in hurricane country and my husband is a heart patient we keep a portable window unit and run it off a generator if there's no electric. In the summer it usually sits in the barn workshop, during hurricane time it's in the bedroom so he has somewhere to be comfortable. We're in a fairly small town and the electric co. supervisor knows us so after the hospital, police and emergency stuff they really try to get to us. The one I remember most is a truck coming out and replacing our transformer in the middle of a huge electrical storm. Scared the fool out of me, but we were very grateful.

Our heat index was over 100 yesterday ... was great out at the lake during water training, but rest of afternoon was a struggle even with a/c in home and vehicle. :kgo_027:

Yesterday, heat index here was 97 at 9 a.m. Too freaking hot to take the boys to Rincon to the beach. Instead, we headed up into the mountains to a fresh water pool and waterfall! It was 72 degrees and misty...gotta love it!

Central AC is nonexistant in my area of PR...got a unit in each room. If one goes...we move into another room until the house owner replaces. If power goes out we are SOL. I hope hurricane season is kind to us!

Ditto..we were just in Grand Marais, MN for the week, and it was only about 40 F for the first four days. River loved it, couldn't keep her out of the cold water, but we had a fire going the whole time. Now we're home and it's about a 40 degree difference already!
