Now I'm the Only One in the Family Who is Not a Therapist

Louie decided to follow in his father and big sister's footsteps yesterday by passing his therapy dog test. Not only did he earn his Rally Novice title on Saturday he also became a certified therapy dog. :dance01: I am so proud of our 14 month old baby boy. He is such a sweetheart; I know he will brighten the lives of many nursing home residents, Hospice patients, the kids at Easter Seals, their families and the staff at these facilities. In fact, he brought many people joy at the dog show yesterday. Adults and children flocked around him and Katie. One woman approached me and said that out of all the dogs at the show none touched her heart the way Louie did.

There is a video on my blog (see link in signature) of Louie taking his test. I labeled all of the different sections so that people who are interested can see what the test is all about. It's not a difficult test. The main purpose is to show that your dog is under control, not aggressive towards other dogs, and friendly to people.

Charity that was such a good idea posting the video clip!! It was really neat to see what is involved for therapy testing. Thank you!

Louie, Congratulations!!! You are such a good boy!! You are a wonderful Newfoundland, and you make any Newfie person/dog proud!!!

Louis is UNSTOPPABLE!!!! What next, Charity?
We are taking advanced rally class right now and will start competing in that at the first available opportunity. We also will start a little water work this spring and intro to draft in the fall. Our main goal is to have FUN!! :dance01:

Congratulations.....I so wish we could do these tests. I would love mine to be therapy dogs. The Australian system is just quite different

:groovy: Louie :groovy: You are AWSOME!!!!!

The little videos were great, thank you for posting them. You guys all work indoors. I love it......... All our work is outdoors in a huge paddock (it has 6' fencing). And only if the weather is shocking do we go into a indoor horse arena...........

Congrats! I loved the seperation test! He was so good. I think Sunny would cry if I was out of her site, somewhere strange for any time! And she is 8. He is such a good pup!

Has Louie been to do any therapy work yet ?
We are waiting for his tag and ID badge to come in the mail so that he will be legal. Hopefully we will get started within a week or two. It will be interesting to see how he does.
