Newfs and Christmas Decorations

Due to some issues we have had around Christmas the last 3 yrs (mostly Jack's health) the Newfs have never seen a Christmas tree.
We decided that everything was going so well this year that we would go get a real tree. It started out that we could not find a tree place...fortunately I got pulled over by the police  Well, I talked my way out of a ticket...plus the officer got slimed by Lola and told me the best place to buy a tree. So all in all it was a pretty good traffic stop LOL

So far the Newfs are doing reasonably well with the new tree, but the dachshunds think it is a water dish.
We are being vigilant at trying to keep them out of it.
It was impossible to keep the bead garland straight and nice looking. The Newfs would get too close and it would inevitably end up hooked to one of them while they ran away, taking the garland with them. So if you see messy bead garland in some of the photos..know it's gone now :)

Here are some photos taken at different stages of decorating

Please excuse all the layer pine needles on the carpet  I didn't vacuum until we were completely finished

Sophie modeling her antlers

Lola pouting...Where did the bead garland go mom??

Seriously, how long do you expect us to lay here?

Lola's favorite new place to sleep

Silly Sophie overexposed LOL

First casualty of the holiday decorations
Thanks Ty!! Fortunately since I was skeptical about having a tree
We did not use our good ornaments. We bought some cheap shatterproof ones.
They are kind of plastic and softer.

Grrrr, get these off me

A few stockings, they have to share

The bead garland kept getting messier and messier

Even decorated around the boat

Sophie: I'm outta here

Group shots

So far we have lost 3 bulbs and had pieces of branch torn off to be chewed, but they are really doing pretty well.
I find they only want to chew if they are bored and a "leave it" will suffice

So how did the "shatter-proof" ornament end up in pieces? Was it a snack?

Nice tree and a great gang!

I love these shots!! All of them are good. I love my L.O.L.A.! And, the other two as well, of course.

I love it for the simple fact you can decorate the bottom half of your tree. I'm constantly pulling a cat out of the tree, from under it, or taking a branch out of Maggie's mouth. I think this year I'm getting an air horn and whenever any of them go near it, I'll let it rip.

Ty chewed it :(
He had it and was chewing it like a bone.
Even though it looks broken, it just has parts chewed off and none of them jagged. I am very happy that I bought these!

Wow Kelly. Great shots!! Our tree goes in our formal living room...where the newfs are not allowed. LOL.
That would be NICE!
Since we are on the lake, the house is a very open floor plan. That way all the rooms can see the lake.
There are only two bedrooms that can't.
The family room, foyer, sitting area, dining area, kitchen and breakfast nook are really one huge room.
I mean it's divided, but no dividing walls...it's hard to explain LOL

I love the group shots. Actually, I love all of them, but getting all the dogs to pose quietly together is mammoth! Happy holidays :)

OK, you missed a picture. :) I was hoping to see how one goes about decorating an outboard motor (or two) for Christmas.

They look fantastic. The more Christmases come and go, the better they'll be with the tree. I've got THREE trees in my house, and the guys are totally blase about them now. The only time I have to watch them is if one of the cats is having a nap beneath a tree. Pooka cannot resist sticking his big schnozz under the tree to "see what the cat is doing."

I do have to put the cat away in her "safe room" at night. If I leave her out she will climb the tree then Lola will chase her in the morning when she gets up. Lola loves the cat a little TOO much.

Wonderful shots of a merry crew! I can't believe how grown up Ty and Sophie are.

We opted for a table top tree. Visions of the Dastardly Duo launching Santa missiles were unappealing. Yours, on the other hand, display exemplary behavior.

Our tree survived last year with a puppy Kate, so I am hoping for the same. Though old clumsy Toby might knock it. We always tie the tree to a ceiling hook for that reason, just in case :)
lovely pictures

Looks like they are all enjoying "their" tree. Great pics, all, but I especially love the closeup of silly Sophie with her antlers. She doesn't seem to mind them at all...
