I'm so sorry to hear about your sweet boy. I remember seeing pictures of him, he was gorgeous! It is so very hard to lose them, they take a piece of your heart with them. He is watching over you all now.

And you're not crazy about smelling the hair. I have some too from my guys in a ziploc bag which I have opened on occasion and smelled. I have Chance's blanket too still because it smells like him.

Hugs to you and your family. He will be in your heart forever.

There is this incredible ache in our hearts when the time comes but what a treasure of memories they leave us with. I hope you find comfort in those memories.

I am so sorry to hear of Thunder's passing.
The human/dog bond is something truly special. I lost my 15 year old shih tzu a little over a year ago, and some nights I swear I can still feel her curled up at the end of the bed next to my feet..
The pain does ease with time, but you will never stop missing him. Cherish the memories. Hugs to you and your wife....:grouphug:

Kent...I am so sorry for your loss of your boy. There is just something about this breed that makes it so hard when they pass. Newfs are very special dog's, and when we lose them we lose part of ourselves with them.
Rest In Peace Sweet Thunder...

First, let me say how sorry I am.
Second, to me...there is something about these newfs, a deep connection with your soul, it is unlike anything I've experienced. I do not look forward to the final goodbyes but I could not continue my life without another. You will never find another Thunder but maybe, just maybe one day you might see some lightning (;) just saying...never say never) until then may those precious memories of Thunder nourish you both.
I am also so very sorry for your loss, but like Dawn, there will never be another Thunder, he will always have a special part of your heart, but maybe one day you will find another to help ease the pain and make you smile again and take another piece of your heart.
RIP Thunder...........run and play with all our Angels at Rainbow Bridge :( Ronnie

It's never easy, especially with the special ones. I am so sorry for your loss. But, don't worry, Thunder is still with all of you. Just start paying attention, and listen!

I am so sorry for your loss. I found your words about Thunder very touching. I know exactly what you mean about smelling their fur - its so familiar and real.
You were blessed to have each other for the time he was allowed.
Hugs to you and your family.

So sorry to read this, and sad to think he may be your only Newf. Over time, perhaps keep an open mind. The love you showed him would be much appreciated by another, perhaps less fortunate dog who is just waiting for that kind of owner.

My sympathies.

I am just reading of your loss and am so sorry. We have lost too many dogs this year, and I know so many of us can understand and appreciate your grief. However, yes, there will never be another Thunder, but there is no reason why another gentle soul cannot come into your life and take up where he left off. Peace and happy memories.
