About five years ago our Vets office called us to ask if we knew someone willing to adopt a seven year old Newfoundland. Her owners were a middle aged couple with grown children and getting divorced because mom ran off with another man and dad was moving to an apartment. Naturally we would take her and she came to live with our son and daughter-in-law. For all these years she has had a pampered life in a loving home but today may be her last. She has a mass on her lung and it is not treatable. She has lost weight, refuses to eat and her Vet gives her only a few more days at best. It is bitter sweet losing her but knowing she had many happy years is some comfort. Don't morn the loss but celebrate the life.
