Doc's Mom

Doc passed his CGC test and I couldn't be prouder! :groovy: Doc is 17 months and I have only had him for 7 months.
We only worked on it in class for 5 weeks; had a mock test and then we took the test. For some reason the test was offered early and those who wanted to take it could. I was so nervous! And Doc was so hyper!
We took it at a place where he had never been (Columbus All Breed-Great place with great people) and all the dogs, he wouldn't listen to a simple sit so I could fill out the paperwork. I did take him for a mile walk before we left and ran him in the parking lot for 15-20 minutes when we got there. He was so antsy that a couple of people that were from my class commented about how hyper he was. They asked me if I still wanted to take the test and I said yes, if just to give him the experience. I seriously didn't think we would pass it. I thought he failed the walking through the crowd because he wanted to stop by all of the people, he is so used to having people pet him. So I asked while I was walking to see if he would be petted and they said no, so I explained that he is used to that, and then when he passed that part, several came up to pet him. That made me feel really good. Then the last part where you put them in a stay and leave the building for 3 minutes, I got so lucky, a lady practically ran to me, as it turns out she has had Newfies for 30+ years. He did great on that part. Doc got Dairy Queen and pictures of him eating with his Doggles on, they loved him! Then we went hiking. He was one tired newf when we got home.
Jess, don't worry Gabe will do great! They teach you everything you need in class. Just keep us posted of how he is doing.
