Jorah

We lost Jorah a week ago. She let us know it was time. Our beautiful baby girl was just past her fifth birthday and it was almost four months exactly since we'd lost Thea. Rachel summed Jorah up so well below:

A house with only three Newfies is far quieter than I thought it would be. No one pants as loudly as Jorah did, barks at seemingly nothing as she did, or slams doors as she did.
She was an extraordinarily joyful Newfie. She greeted everyone with the expectation that they already loved and adored her.
She ate books, carpets, and rose bushes. She hated chipmunks and cats. She chased rabbits. Usually while leashed and on a walk.
In the summer, she liked to splash as much as she could while wading upstream at the creek. Then, she'd set out into the middle of the creek and let the current push her downstream for a while. Splash up, sail down.
In the winter, she would sit in the snow and literally watch individual snowflakes fall from the sky. If it wasn't snowing, she'd push the snow off the deck and watch that fall instead.
Her name was two-fold. Jorah is Hebrew for autumn rain. But she was also named after an ice-hockey player. Like her namesake, she was big and blocky and didn't think twice about checking you into the wall as she charged by.
She had so many nicknames. The most common was Pumpkin or Fluffy. Less kindly, Pumpkin-head. She had the same sweet, inky black gaze as the triplet bear cubs from Brave so she was also called "Hamish, Hubert, and Harris." Yes, all three together.
She was the baby. Our baby.

So sorry to hear Jorah lost her battle with cancer. Cancer is such a nasty thing. Godspeed to you sweet Jorah. My prayers are with you.

Love the splash up and sail down story.

Thank you everyone. We are heartbroken over this. She was a very special girl. It didn't matter how bad a day you could be having, she always made you smile. I've never met a dog with such a joyful personality. And now when I look around the house I just see the empty spots where Jorah and Thea should be.
