I've missed everyone

I haven't been around much in the last 6 months because we had a rough patch. DS got married in June - a very good thing-, but the next day my 94 year old mother was hospitalized and then was hospitalized again 2 weeks later. At that point, when she was discharged, Hospice was called in. Mom did okay during the rest of the summer, but as soon as I went back to teaching in the fall, the problems started again and Mom declined all fall. We were able to give her the good news that DS and his wife are expecting a little girl in March and will be giving her the middle name Rose, after my mom. But by the beginning of December, it was obvious that Mom wouldn't last long and she passed away peacefully before Christmas. I'm lucky that she knew me the entire time and was always happy to see me.

I did follow all the goings one here and missed everyone. I was especially sorry that we had to miss the Ocean City get together. I'm just glad that I can come back and get to know everyone again.

Sorry to here about your Mom. When my 96 year old grandmother passed away in November she didn't recognize any of us anymore. :( I am glad your Mom still knew you and went peacefully. Congrats on the upcoming grandchild. I hope 2010 brings many blessings to your family. :)

So sorry about your Mom. It's wonderful she could be with you as long as she was and knew you to the end. It's a blessing to go so peacefully. Life is a series of beginnings and endings. Look forward to and enjoy your granddaughter and when the time is right, share memories of you Mom so she will live on in all of you.

Welcome back Suzanne.
I know the feeling all too well. I lost my Pops on November 5th. He was diagnosed in late June and by Novemeber, gone.
I'm so sorry for your loss. If you miss your Mom half as much as I miss my Pops, my heart aches for you.
