Intact Male Newf at Humane Society Columbia City, IN

I contacted both Diane Lynch and Leslie Conwell (SCNC Rescue) to see if they are willing to intercede and perhaps try to get him. An intact male in a shelter is not a good thing. I contacted both because I'm not sure that where he is falls within SCNC's area and I don't see another area for IN.

In the future, here's who to contact: http://www.ncarescue.org/pages/rescuemap.html

He is really good-looking. I hope someone adopts this beautiful boy ... into a Newf-friendly home....

Has anyone given rescue a heads-up about this boy?

Ooops, thanks Donna. I missed your post above.

He is in the town where I work. I just called she has applications but he is not adopted yet. They are not open to the public today but she said I could come visit with him tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes.

In addition if Rescue has already made arrangements, please let me know. I will still be happy to pick him up/transport/foster for awhile if necessary.

I just returned from visiting Joe. First of all I don't think I am going to be able to adopt him. They let me visit with him, but said they had another application that they felt would be approved.

He is a very nice boy with good manners and was extremely laid back. His coat wasn't too bad, although he did have a shaved area, where they had been treating a hot spot. It still had a ways to go before being cleared up. His hips seemed pretty straight when he was sitting. However, when he was standing there was a bit of a tremor in the rear legs, especially the right side. I worry there may be some ortho issues to be dealt with there and hope his new family is prepared for that.

He came from a local family who had five children. Their house burnt a couple weeks ago and they were unable to find somewhere to go and keep Joe. It's obvious that he has been loved.

Anyway that is the update. I'm glad I went to visit, even though it doesn't look like I will be able to bring him home with me.

On a side note the lady told me they had also just received a 2 yo Bernese Mountain Dog. She would not let me see him, because his temperment test was not complete. She asked that I check back on Thursday if I was interested.

They just called the other family changed their mind. We are going to take Shiva in for a meet and greet and see how things progress from there.
