Hunter has Osteosarcoma

Just got the lab results back today. Unfortunately, the lump on Hunter's temple is osteosarcoma Surgery is not an option because of the location. I feel very helpless. Has anyone else heard of a dog with osteosarcoma of the skull?? I've only heard of it in the limbs.

Yes Sandra ..it is so unfair!!! My main concern is the pain he will endure. I'm so worried about that. I will keep your beautiful Zoe in my prayers.

I am so incredibly sorry for you and Hunter! We are also dealing with an osteosarcoma diagnosis right now, so again, I am so sorry for you both. Ours in in the distal radius and we didn't opt for surgery. I have her on about 6 different holistic treatments, you can PM me if you want more detail or anything at all.
Please keep us posted, I'll be checking back for sure.
I will definitely remember you both in my prayers.

Yes, he said he may start getting headaches or have trouble swallowing. If we start to see that we could us Rimadyl and tremadol to help with pain. So far he doesn't seem in pain so hoping that lasts for awhile.

Dearest Pam, Just reading this and I can't imagine how heartbroken you must be and angry too! It seems everytime I read a fb or newf net status one of our Gentle Giants has been diagnosed with this horrible relentless disease! Your family and sweet Hunter will be in our thoughts and prayers! Zeke's cancer, was found in his rear leg, but the Vet was pretty sure that it had metastasized from another part of his body. Most likely his spine. Could it be that Hunter's cancer is the same, in that it is a Metastasis from another area? Management of pain also has it's drawbacks, in that it will make them sick and not want to eat. So anything you can do for Hunter to make him comfortable, without the ill effects of drugs will be the key. All my prayers for the both of you as you travel together down this new road.
