i'm sick. I'm actually very sick. I have pneumonia according to the doctor although we are still waiting for the chest xray and the lab tests. BUT both dogs are acting up. granted i've been home full time in bed since friday night but still. Harley who is usually mild mannered and quiet will JUMP up on me when i'm sitting now. or he paws me and barks... do they sense something? do they smell something?

I'm sick too, although not as bad as you! I took pictures of how my two act this morning. I'll post 'em asap. (It's like they're in vigil for me, or something...)

Right. Here are my two doctors on duty.

Doctor # 1 thinks the prognosis is not good. (you can tell he's a doctor because of the eccentric hairstyle...yes, the floof is growing back!)

Doctor # 2 thinks things are more positive.

Conferring over treatment options.

Bringing in a specialist.

They do smell..all our changes, from emotional 'tone', to the scan of what we are taking/applying/ingesting..as the levels of treatment..are started..or extended. They live with a 24 hour tv/radio news scan..by the number of individually noted scents..they can note, wonder about, deal with. Hope your treatments and resting..bring healing soon. ina n HB n Kesa

I really OUGHT to be toddying my tea, with the amount of outside work I've been doing while harboring this ick! I've been trying to build the boys a snow igloo in their dog yard. Lots of shovel work

This is because deep down I'm still about 6 years old.

The specialist is planning on doing a CAT scan, right Nessa???

Yes...they know. They hover, just when you want to be left alone! hahaha!

I think they are very preceptive, and know that something is wrong, and they react to it.:bear:

As far as the Kat is concerned Lt. Ricky and Maj. Ethel believe that the Kat needs an MRI (Make the Rascally kat Inflight) using the Mk IV, Mod 1 Kat-A-Pult to insert the Kat into the MRI machine. Sorry Nessa, it's what they said. (Reference D.O.W. Thread):whistling:

BTW I hope you both feel better soon. S.I.B. (Stay in Bed):book: D.F. (Drink Fluids):coffeedrink:, and of course P.N. (Pet Newf's):groovy:

Good news.. .Chest Xray looks good. antibiotic seems to be working. a few more days of rest and back to work i go.

i'd rather go help Nessa1 build a snow igloo.

I've had that flu that's been going around the last few days, (stupid thing lasts forever) the boys have been hovering over me even more like Velcro Newfs than normal. Today they are finally acting normally and I'm taking that as a good sign, since this crud seems to come back and grab you when you think its gone!!!

I think most dogs have a very good idea when things are out of kilter. We had a lab shepherd mix one time that apparently could smell the enzyme change when my husband was about to have a heart attack. She would climb up on his lap and paw his shoulder. The first time he ignored her, after that he paid attention, got things kind of ready and kept the phone very close by. Feels like her advance notice saved his life twice.

ya know i don't think i'd mind so much if hannah did not want to lay on my chest with her nose under my chin. I can barely breathe as it is and 60 pounds of dog on my chest is NOT helping.

A friends BC/GS can smell drugs in a person, so I don't doubt they can smell germs and what hapens in our body when we're dealin' with them.

GET BETTER!

I think to that they can sense/smell that there is a change. Mine seems to just hover around & lye beside me, now & again checking on my breathing & giving kisses.

Gracie, who is not a cuddler, will climb on the couch and lay her head across my legs and remain so for hours. Maneen lays close by.Old fashioned story about disease: back when I was a kid and got the measles (no vaccines then) our family doctor made a house call and as soon as he entered the house he said to my mom, "It's measles! I can smell it."...so why not dogs?

Dogs are often the first to know someone is sick.............they all behave differently when you are sick. Annabelle goes very soft and sad ( almost depressed), Tessa gets very active and attention seeking. Our previous Darling Girls Abbey and Jessie always appeared very worried, whilst Zacky came across as anxious. The Kelpies tend to ignore you totally
Get better soon and take good care of yourself.......Ronnie

Nothing serious here - just fighting a cold. Last night Hancock wanted to play and I told Hancock, "I am getting a cold, could I just close my eyes and lay down for a half hour?" So he huffs a couple of times goes to his place and lays down with a great big sigh. Twenty eight minutes later, he gets up (I hear him coming and pretend to be asleep) and he comes and very gently sniffs my face and kisses it. I do not understand how he tells time!

I sprained my left wrist and our crazed Lab has been very calm since I came home in a splint. He smelled it when I came home and both he and Maddie have been spending most of their time lying at my feet, trying not to run into Mommy's hand.
