Hi From New Jersey

Hi I'm new to this site. I have a brown 11 month old male newfie named Bentley. We live in New Jersey and I'm looking for other newfs to have play dates with. My boy seems to be very aggressive with dogs that are smaller than him, so I think he needs dogs his size to play with. He's also very stubborn! When he doesn't want to do something, well there's no moving him! Will put a pic up if I can figure out how!

Another Newf Jersey member?! Welcome from the suburbs of Chicago! There are several members from Jersey, so hopefully you'll have some luck with your playdates :)

Thanks for the welcome! I'm in Colonia which is part of Woodbridge Twp. My Bentley is from Casa Loma also. I do know someone who also has a newf from my area. She has a 5 month old from Casa Loma also. We've had a couple play dates but unfortunately, Bentley is very aggressive with smaller dogs when playing. And he is now 154 lbs.

11 months and 154 pounds??? I'd love to see pictures, please!! My Elvis is a big one too, but he didn't get there that quickly.

Welcome to NN!

I'm not sure how to classify him but I think its aggressiveness. He wants to play and run with other dogs, but if they're not doing what he wants, he will persistantly bark in their face, grab them by the neck, try to sit on them and pin them down, swipe them with his paw. Not sure what to do about this. I'm not liking it cause I don't want him hurting another dog. Which he has done already by giving a 5 month old newf a sprained paw from playing too rough! Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi from CT! He sounds like an adolescent brat boy with other dogs - you'll find some really good advice here if you're open to it. And you'll certainly learn that you're not alone.

11 months and 154 lbs? WOW. How tall is he? Pics please!
