My name is Michael (female) and I have an 11 mo old newfie girl (Riki). This is my first newf, and I must say I am learning a lot. I just love her. She did something to her hind leg which caused her hind foot to turn out. She's totally not hyper by any means. The vet is sending her x-ray to a specialist to see what he thinks. so far it's looking like a torn tendon but also the foot joint doesn't look that great either, maybe caused by the tearing?
They're talking 3k for surgery. My vet is wonderful and is all about finding other alternatives to surgery. so, we'll see what she says. anyhow, just introducing myself to this wonderful world of newf foum. I welcome any suggestions from anyone with similiar issues.

Riki's vet called and there is no evidence of a torn tendon, growth plate is getting ready to set as appropriate for her age. SO, they said to keep her on the anti inflammatories and then we'll see what happens. It might be she is just growing that way. they may want to do more x-rays at different positions. so, we're right back at square one.

Welcome from North Carolina!!
You'll get a lot of input here with your situation. A few of the NN'ers faced a similar circumstance.
Hope Riki will be ok.

Welcome from Michigan?

Did your vet mention the cruciate ligament causing the issue? Is she able to walk?
