Hi all. My name is Karen. I live in the midlands of South Carolina with my husband & 3 Alaskan Malamutes. I don’t have a Newf in my household but I recently became a long distance ‘grandma’ to one. My daughter (newfam) and her family recently welcomed Tsunami into their fold. Since I can’t be right there; I am looking forward to learning more about my 4 legged grand’s uniqueness in the canine world from those that hold them close to their hearts.

What a great idea that you joined here so see how Tsunami is progressing as well as all our Newfs here. Many people here have other breed dogs as well.

I moved to Virginia from Charleston about a year and a half ago. Have you joined the Southeastern Newfoundland Club yet? They have some members in your area.

I think it is FANTASTIC that you joined because of your grandpup!!!!

When I told my mom that we were looking to add a newf to our current pack... she said "another dog???"

But the next Monday she called and started the conversation "I talked to my vet and she said that if you are getting a newf you need to ask the breeder about......"

She does care! :) (I figure if she doesn't warm up to the little one before I bring him home, she always melts the first time she sees them)

Hello there :wave:from Michigan! I wish I could get my Mom to join NN! What a cool Mom you are! She does make bibs for my Newf though so I can't complain...
Even though she complains about the drool and shedding when he visits, I know she secretly loves him. Just the other day she called to ask when her grand-dog is coming up to visit again! We were just there last week!!!

Anyway, WELCOME and you will really enjoy yourself here! So much to learn and some really nice people!
