Hello from Indiana

Hello fellow Newfoundland lovers! I am hoping to eventually get an adult Newfoundland from a resuce group here in Indiana. I just moved into a house and live near a beach. I am just starting out in this venture of the possibility of owning one, but am not sure where the best place is to start. I have not seen any available in my local newspaper or shelter at this time and would appreciate any suggestions on this along with any advice about the breed. Thanks.

Hey! I'm just beginning my search for a newf as well...but I'm looking for a pup! One thing that's been a big help for me is searching through the past threads. There really is SO MUCH info on here, including helpful advise on getting a rescue. Good luck!

Welcome! Definitely start with your local Newf club. We got our Maggie through our local club's rescue group. It worked out very well. Good luck!

Thank you all so much! I'm so excited about this! It seems that they just might be the right breed for me after all the research I've done. But they're so hard to find.
The beach is my love also, and it will be so nice to have one tagging along beside me there.

Hello from CA! Good luck with your search, AND your research, lol. It sure is helpful, isn't it? I just brought my second rescue home. I searched for well over a year only finding Newfs with fairly big "issues" out this way that just wouldn't have worked with our existing dog, so I rescued a shelter Newf! Very rewarding getting him out of extremely hot weather with no water around! I can tell that he's not exactly a purebred but he's all Newf at heart, and he's filled mine! His pedigree is less important for me as he's not competing in anything and I still get to be a part of this wonderful Newf Net Forum! So welcome to you and hope to see your new furbaby soon! Best wishes, Su

I've had difficulty with the website and have received a "failure to send" notice when I tried to send my on-line application for adoption. I wonder if there is any address that I could mail it to?

You can send an attachment of your application to: SCNRescue_Apps@yahoo.com

We occasionally have trouble with our online application, but have not been able to work out the bugs. Sorry for the inconvenience, we look forward to your application, as we are swamped right now, with 4 more needing to come into Rescue just in the last 3 days.

Good luck finding a Newf in need of a home. Rescue Newfs can be great Dogs, we have two out of four that are rescues. Welcome aboard from Northern IL. What part of IN? We have a house in Bremen.

I'll try it again. Thanks!

I'm in Chesteron, Indiana.
Bremen, huh? I travel there a lot. What a coincidence!
