Hattie Needs a Home

I contacted Mary Price about this girl, but thought I would post here also.

Her name is Hattie, she is in a northern WI shelter .... the disturbing description says "she needs to be tied out in a yard or in a fenced yard."

Hattie is so pretty!!!

I've been looking at her for over a month. She's about a five hour drive from me...but my husband would probably divorce me if I came home with her.

Hmmm....I'm almost 100% certain we called on this girl before we got Phoebe. They don't screen their prospective homes at all. We were going to go get her and then they called us and said she was already adopted, they knew we had a long drive. I am VERY disappointed, if this is the same girl. Breaks my heart. :(

She is not on the shelters listing of adoptable pets...It would be a long drive for me and I would need to know I would get her...
Will see what I can find out about her...

Call first! Always my motto before a long drive.
She is a very pretty girl and just isn't getting enough attention to be wandering around. Some people just shouldn't have dogs or kids. Just saying?
Man just a little closer. Morgan is a only dog. Of course daddy may kill me after wards?

 Erika! Anita, when I looked at their listing of adoptable pets today, she was there. I had to look twice to find her, she was listed among all the cats. You're right though, I don't see her there now.

The lady we talked to was very nice and helpful...this was a couple months ago when they first had Hattie. She knew we had a long drive and said she would call if Hattie was adopted before we could make it there. She did call us, which was very kind of her. She also told us that she didn't think Hattie would be good with cats, but I don't know how they tested that.
Anyway...just really sad to see this girl back there when we were more than willing to give her a forever home with lots of time and patience. Hope she ends up somewhere that can give her what she needs so she doesn't wind up back at the shelter.

I did hear back from Mary Price (she's the best!). She already had the link to Hattie last week and offered NCNC rescue assistance, but never heard back from the shelter. Mary also referred interested adopters to the shelter. I hope Hattie is in the hands of someone Mary referred.

Why can't they just say she needs a fenced in yard. I don't know why they would encourage anyone to keep a dog tied up.
Oh, I agree, 100%!

The blurp also seems to advocate taking her for "runs"......so perhaps she isn't being represented well to perspective homes.

Ok, think I posted too soon. If I'm reading it right it says:

Hattie
Newfoundland Dog: An adopted dog in South Range, WI

So I'm hoping she was adopted. Guess I should read better next time! :)
