So scary. I would have been hysterical. I'm so glad he's ok; I hope you can figure out a good solution so he can keep a watch on his neighborhood safely!

I can't believe that he did what he did without hurting himself. He's like a guy who gets totally annihilated, then gets up and acts like nothing happened! I'll have to come up with something to prevent an encore!
The feral cat problem is very annoying and NYC animal control basically told me that I was on my own. They did, however, recently sponsor a day-long seminar on "managing a feral cat colony" but I'm more interested in removing it! I love cats and cried like a child when my 20 y/o had to be put down several years ago. But having dozens of these guys roaming around isn't good. Many of them are obviously in poor health, and it's not uncommon to find a few corpses each year. Unfortunately, the neighborhood's chief enabler is a mentally impaired guy who doesn't really communicate with anyone. I'm sure there are others who feed them too.
Buckley has never interacted with a plain old house cat, and perhaps this was a glaring omission from the early socialization process.
Even though he scared me nearly to death, all's well that ends well. I guess a Supernewf costume might be appropriate next Halloween!

Scarey story! We had a flying pug....jumped right out of the pickup as we were driving along a country lane. He limped for days and has never tried it again probably because it did hurt.
That is a lovely porch, maybe if you can't raise the rail level with wrought iron work, maybe you could screen it in? That would give you some peace when Buckley is out there on his own but it might also make it a bug free place for you to enjoy too.
