After first posting in General I thought I'd go here and introduce myself.
Thanks to Newfiemama I found this wonderful place that has a bunch of pictures of everyone's kids.
I am mama to Bear.
We decided on a Newfie when our GSD went over the Rainbow Bridge in July. We researched and researched and decided to focus on rescuing a Newfie. We had looked at other dogs to adopt but we kept coming back to the Newfie. We did care about the shedding and the blowing of the coat becasue or GSD did that. We didn't care about the size becasue we wanted a LARGE dog. We didn't care about the slobbering becasue both of out children had reflux and we knew we could handle the slime. ( Reflux children spit up a lot and in the beginning can project it.)
We cared about the big heart these lovable goofs have. We cared that they are wonderful with children. We cared that we would be adopting and saving a Newfie's life. We had almost given up on our search when we searched Petfinder.com one more time and the Animal Services had posted they had a Newfie but they didn't post a picture. We rushed down and knew immediately we wanted him. We don't know for sure if he is PB or mix but we love him either way. We immediately started obedience classes and have seen a huge difference in his behavior. We all love him and can tell by his eyes that he feels the same.
We hope to add another Newfie/Newfie X in the next coming years but are just blessed to have our newest family member.
