I did a search and couldn't find any of you.

Lori Levy
Lori, I didn't know which one was you.

For the rest, I'm very new here and jumped right in w/ my Athena's heart surgery. I'm also a member of NewfWorld, tho that one is pretty slow.

I sent a ton of requests just now. If I missed someone, I'm Beth Barlow Wagner on FB. There's a picture of me looking at my dd.

Chad you have to invite us, that is the only one i pulled on a search! you may have yourself marked as unsearchable?

Okay, Beth, I sent you a friend request. I'll go in and make myself temporarily searchable, how's that? Also, if any of you go to the "friends" link, it will pull up a page of potential friends you can send requests to. These are friends of your friends, and if a person is friends with all your friends, it will pull up his/her name as a "suggested friend". You can pretty much get a lot of NN budies from that list!

Donna Koga is Me!

And Jacques S Remmell is ... Jacques! (Not Jacques J...that's his son)

We both have pics of Newfs in our profile pics. I have a Newf and a Toller.

Also, if any of you go to the "friends" link, it will pull up a page of potential friends you can send requests to.
True, provided they have the friends "viewable". Some people block that from viewing too.

On your home page, in the upper right hand corner, you will see a list of things that might say
4 invitations pending
5 freinds requests or pending requests
3 send a newf
etc etc... If you click on any one of nthese it will open up a window showing you what you have pending for that category.

You accepted my friend request so I know you know where it is (LOL)

I have a question. What use is Facebook? Isn't it similar to myspace? Isn't it a place to keep in touch with others. Don't we do that on NN? What is the advantages of being on facebook compared to NN if all your contacts are from NN? I have not signed up for face book because I don't see a reason to. So come on and convience me that I need a facebook page.

Jeannie it's quite different from chatting here on NN....and includes a circle of friends far larger than just those here. I am amazed at the number of old friends I have reconnected with, we've had reunions and had a great time. I've also made some good contacts for rescue work by reconnecting with people I would otherwise never have thought to contact.

I use it to contact friends more often than email now, since most of them get notifications right to their cell phone that a message has been sent, so I hear back very quickly.

It's also a great way to stay in touch with extended family who you don't see very often. For exampe, our cousin in Australia who we would otherwise probably talk to once or twice a year, we are now staying in touch with on a regular basis, as we each post photos of things going on in our lives, etc. People with large families, can stay in touch easily, and ensure that everyone gets updates. You will be surprised by how many people you know on facebook!

You control who sees what on your profile -- so some people see everything, inlcuding all pictures you post, all notes, updates, etc. Others you may prefer that they only see limited info, depends who they are. You customize it yourself to ensure that you are only sharing what you want to share with certain people.

My only peeve is people sending friend requests and I can't figure out who they are! LOL! Those go into the ignore file for me! When you send a friend request, there is a drop down selection that lets you include a little note with your friend request....this is where you can can say "hey, it's Blacknewfs from NN" or whatever. Makes it easier for people to figure out who is who, especially when people from places like NN start sending requests, and you don't know their real names!

I see Blacknewfs gave you some good reasons. Personally I do not like Facebook (or myspace), because it is too busy of a site for me, so I am not really looking for "friends". But one thing that is nice about Facebook is the lack of rules. I am sure some of the rules especially on unspoken for litters, kennel names etc have a good reason here, but Facebook does allow a bit more freedom.

Facebook is fun and you can do anything and say anything on it. You can post pictures of your dogs and you can tell anyone and everyone who you are breeding and post pictures of puppies...basically you can do everything that you can't do on NN.

I love FB for all the reasons Sandra and LouAnn stated. Also, you can join "groups" ... for Newfs, Goldens, Politics, Rescue, Military, the NCA, Geographical-specific, College-specific, Work, and on and on. There are areas for anything and everything you might have an interest in.

And then there are the addicting games.........Farm Town, Mafia Wars, Mouse Hunt, Farkle, just to name a few. hahahahaha!

I really hated MySpace. WAY too busy (as in movement via pics, videos, music all over the page)...noisy...etc. FB is very different - and clean looking. I've connected with people I haven't seen in years.

Georgie...in the right hand upper side of your page, there's a link for Settings. Click that and look at Privacy Settings. See what you have blocked (a reddish circle with a line through it). You might want to unblock some of those things.

Leonard...FB does have rules, but you really have to push the limits to get warned or kicked off. People can complain about "content" ... but often it's just because they disagree, not that the user has posted anything wrong. You can state any opinion you wish, including videos, links, etc. If someone doesn't like it...they're free to disagree, if you've made those comments public (or even public to just friends). If you don't like them or the way they're responding to you...you're free to block them from posting on or reading your comments/page.

OK calling on Facebook experts. If you see something somewhere else that you want to post on your facebook page and it has a facebook link there's a nice little window that opens with the words Profile and Send a Message at the top of the item and then Share and Cancel under the window. My assumption was - Share (since it has no options sent the link to EVERYONE (friends) and Profile would only post it on my page. Problem- nothing ever seems to happen when I click Profile, therefore I am sending to everyone and I really don't want to clutter up their pages.

Can someone clarify for me

OK...under the post, click Share. Then a box pops up so you can add a comment if you want. When you're finished...click Share on the bottom of the box again. It will post to your profile.

If you want to send it as individual messages...click Share...then at the bottom on the left, it says Send as Message Instead. Click that. Then you can enter individual friend's names. Then click Share at the bottom. It will only go to them.
