Hello,
I took my 6 month old newfie to the vet three weeks ago because she woke up with a very red eye and green drainage coming out. The vet checked her eye pressure, checked for a scratched cornea, ran a few more tests to determine there was nothing serious going on and then after ruling out an injury to the eye prescribed antibiotics for her eye. The vet said to put the drops in twice a day for 7-10 days- I did it for three weeks straight because her eye still looked red. I brought her back in because her eye is still draining and looks red sometimes but the vet says to just keep it clean by wiping it with a warm wash cloth and that it is most likely just allergies. I know my own allergies have been horrible this year so it is possible she is just suffering from allergies. I am worried that there might be something wrong though and I do not want to just leave it because she sometimes covers her eye with her paw as if it is bothering her. Is this common for newfoundlands? Should I take her to see another vet or am I worried for nothing?
