Emergency vets last night

As if lumpkin wasnt going through enough last night late he suddenly leapt up at me and he twisted somehow and landed with his left front leg smack on our heavy coffee table.

The screaming was horrendous we were sure he had broken something so rushed to the emergency vets when there he would scream getting up from sitting but was weight bearing if with a bad limp. The vets dont think anything is broken as he would allow them to feel and put pressure around the leg. A shot of morphine to keep him quiet through the night and a 24 hr inflam shot as well.

Had a follow up this morning and saw our vet who agrees nothing is broken as he was putting more weight on it and hadnt cried for a few hours.. after a night of sleeping on the floor with him whilst he whimpered.

Half hour ago i was doing his food and he was just sitting beside me when he started screaming again only for a min, he ate his food and managed to really hobble outside for a wee, is now resting again.

Why is this all happening to us.

I always think everything happens for a reason but with the luck you and me are having, I have no idea what is the reason behind it, massive hugs

Oh goodness...these guys can really be trying and expensive can't they? But, we love them so darn much...poor guy...I hope he is ok? I was wondering if xrays were taken also. If not I think I would ask as something could still be broken especially if he is still crying out in extreme pain. Best wishes coming your way!

No they didnt do xrays as he was under general anaesthetic having xrays last week.

He is walking on it and has only screamed out once, its so hard as all his bones are not where they should be. Is walking around ok at the momment.

We will be through his years worth of insurance in the next week at this rate, have the £200 specialist consult tomorrow as well.

He has spent most of the day sleeping but had a while where he wanted to play, twice today he has yelped out in pain when getting up, this is horrible.

we have had 2 vets look at him and both agree nothing is broken as he can bear weight and they could manipulate everything, he was only xrayed last week dont want him to go through that again im so worried.

Makes you feel so helpless when they scream in pain like that. Hope he will be OK soon.

Poor baby. Hopefully whatever he did will heal quickly. Even after just having xrays I'm surprised they didn't do at least one to check for a break since he already has things not in place. Newf are so stoic when it comes to pain most of the time that screaming in pain (even when putting weight on it) would concern me.
Will keep you in our prayers. :)

Perhaps its nerve pain,Max was on serious amounts of painkillers before his cancer was diagnosed.
In the end gabapentin a nerve painkiller was given and no crying.

Good luck today!

I'm so sorry this is happening to Lumpkin. It's a helpless feeling, no doubt. If he's still yelping, go back to the vet and insist something be done. Perhaps they could do laser therapy while you're there.
