Dogs and cars

Mine see an open door and they hop right in!

I finally persuaded Finn that he wasn't having the keys but Ali still refused to get out!

My parents have a Border Collie who has them trained to take her for a drive around the block if you leave a car door open. She'll jump in and won't get out untill you do it!

My husband has taken Yogi to the post office many times because he refuses to get out of the car until he goes somewhere. I think I would have to say a ride in the car tops his favorites list.

Our girl loves to ride in the car. When we first brought her home she hated it, but now if she hears the jingle of car keys she is ready to go. We arrange our errands for the early morning so she does not get hot in the car. :)

A friend who studies dog psychology says dogs love car rides because it feels like they are on a hunt. The car makes them feel they are flying along at great speed and the driver is the alpha dog in the lead choosing the speed and direction.

I take mine for a ride every day, even if it's just a mile or two, I think they like the change of scenery. And with these hooligans, it's probably the only time I feel like the big dog.

Ali looks like she's taking a stand, tell Finn to hop in back and go for a spin.

Yep my dogs have to go somewhere at least once a day or they think they are being mistreated. When the make-up goes on, I've fixed my iced tea and I pick up my purse with the keys jangling, the jumping up and down begins from all three. Even Cole had picked up on the excitement by like day 2!

I heard that one reason dogs like the car ride is when they stick their heads out the window, the air rushes into their snout so fast they get what's called an "Oxygen Buzz". Plus all the wonderful smells & tastes in the air :D

Remember moving from Michigan to Georgia 30 years ago with our Newf and Bloodhound in the back of a VW station wagon Rabbit. Needless to say, the dogs took up the entire back of the vehicle, while the moving van had all our dog-eaten furniture headed south. I can't begin to tell you about the number of cars who had to turn on their windshield wipers in the passing lane with those two brutus's slime flying out the windows while they were in heaven headed north-to-south in this continent. Memories!

Ummm...ours must be the worst hunting dogs on the planet then. They're snoring by the time we hit the end of the driveway. Of course they bounce back up as soon as we start to slow down...but by then they've missed the thrill of the chase!

Oh man, can we trade? 'Cuz mine are all hanging out the windows and Lili, the GSD, has discovered the sunroof is opened on nice days so she balances her front feet on the headrest and sticks her whole head out. They have seatbelts but it's a three ring circus to get them buckled up just for a cruise around the 'hood. I'm afraid I'm going to get pulled over and ticketed for reckless driving trying to drag her back inside.

We have a neighbor dog, Spot, that use to always mange to dig under his fence and escape. One day the neighbor 2 doors away from Spot's home called. They said they were loading the back seat of their car for a trip. They come out, and found a dog sitting in the middle of the back seat with his paw up like offering to shake. That is a Spot trait for sure as well as the general description.

Maggie goes everymorning to drop Ashton off and pick her up from school in the afternoon. Right now she fits on the front seat, and fusses until I put the window down so she can lean just her nose on the door. It's so funny to see her floofy hair blowing in the wind.

Sam loves any vehicle, any time, any where! We couldn't keep him off this golf cart - He just kept climbing back on.
