Does anyone else have a lazy Newf that does this?

Okay, I've been watching Tana eating like this for quite some time now, and thought he would stand again if I fed him from Yogi's deeper food dish.
No such luck. He just dips in his head and eats.... aside from him needing an obvious grooming.... is allowing him to eat like this bad for him in any way?

I know a lot of people feed their dogs in an elevated feeder. I did for about 10 years, then reconsidered, figuring they don't eat elevated in the wild (not that I know any wild Newfies). SO I haven't done it for awhile. Maybe Tana is just bringing the bowl to her level.

Two of my three eat like that! Also had one who would scoop food out of the bowl with his nose, and eat it off the floor! Who knows why?

There is also a school of thought that says that feeding out of raised dishes promotes bloating...

Looks like my roomates after a night are "having fun" wayyyy back in the day! Except the bowl was a trash can.....toilet.....bag....etc. lol
man we thought we were having fun.

Three of my newfies eat laying down...too cute! My girl Koda will then go lay down next to one of the others and pull their bowl towards her with her paw. Too Funny.

whooo hooo - I hadn't seen anyone else comment about their dogs doing this ( I probably missed it) and was actually worried that letting him eat this way was some huge No No. thank you for making me feel so much better that my newf is "normal"? :)

All of mine have elevated food bowls. Every now and then Gojie eats laying down. There's nothing wrong with it..other than it makes him look downright lazy:crazy:
Gojie is so laid back that I sometimes think he just can't be bothered to get up and walk over to his dish. I don't care how he eats as long as he eats, right? :D

Cosmo has been doing that on a regular basis, especially when his bowl is on the floor. If he is eating out of the elevated bowl he will stand, but he doesn't look happy about it.

Ok how many Newfs take a big mouthful, and then look around casually while chewing, dropping food bits in a circle around the bowl?

Mine does, and the terrier and chihuahua come in and clean up afterwards. :)

If it weren't for her Neater Feeder, Mila would eat like this all the time. There's been a few occasions where her feeder has been in the dishwashing machine and I've had to put her spare bowls on the floor and that is precisely how she eats! Lazy Newfies!

Poppy eats with a raised bowl, and she doesn't pause long enough to look around, but she does do the look around casually thing with a mouth full of water. What a mess!

This is the only way our Darcy will eat. She always has. She won't go near her food in the elevated food dish!
