Well, our sweet girl is growing up! She will be 8 months old on Tuesday and just went into her first season/heat this weekend. :sunflower: Too bad that she'll miss her advanced obedience classes for a while and she was doing so well! I plan to go alone and work with her at home.

Just had to share...

Rosie will be 10 months on December 10th. All 70 pounds of her! She has not gone into heat yet, that said both of her sisters have. She is scheduled for spaying at the end of December. They grow much too fast, it is kind of sad that we don't get more time with the fluff balls. I think I am going to have to go visit her breeder when she has the next litter. I can help & get my puppy fix when they are really tiny!

We'll see how it goes, but we don't plan to have her spayed until close to 2 yrs. It's a good thing we don't have a video camera since it would be a hoot to see me wrestling her into men's boxer briefs. Btw, I ended up with Fruit-of-the-Loom since they seemed to be the only ones I could find at Target with a fly for her tail...yes, I was the lady examining all of the men's boxer briefs at Target. LOL. A size small fits pretty well. I don't know if I could humiliate her enough to take a picture. :)

Last night, we had her out in the front yard on her leash. Robert had her and I noticed some movement at the bottom of our driveway but it was dark. Then I saw two big dogs come around a bush and start heading toward us barking. I yelled for Robert to run into the garage and get her inside. Next thing I know, there is a boxer within feet of me and another dog behind him...as I head in to the house. I haven't seen them since. We've been watching the shadows closely when we take her out at night.

:( Sadly they grow too fast..........We were lucky in a way all our girls were very late bloomers.
We don't take our girls for a walk anywhere when they are in season. Because some dogs can get aggresive and the dogs can be VERY quick. Be very careful if you do go for a walk. And I have seen some dogs scale very high fences to get to a bitch. The drive to breed is very strong.............Ronnie

Thanks Ronnie. It is hard to believe that she's a teenager already!

Oh, we aren't taking her anywhere, that's for sure. I remember someone saying it's like leaving a trail of breadcrumbs back to your house. LOL. BUT, she does need to go out to the bathroom 3-4 times a day. So we're taking her out on her leash into our yard. That way, if we need to get her back in because male dogs are around (such as a couple of nights ago) we can. We're planning to stay within running distance of the door and not wandering far out in the yard either. Unfortunately, she needs to mill around a bit before doing her business...then it's right back in. The dogs the other night showed up out of nowhere and we had only been out less than a minute. I've never seen them before...or since thank goodness. We ARE keeping it light around here though having three children under 9, joking about how they're coming from miles around because she's just so beautiful and she's in mating season.
