Last night we said goodbye to the most wonderful Newfoundland dog one could ever ask for. He was magnificent, and so very beautiful. Never a more stable temperament in a dog have I known. He was the first born of a litter of 14 on a cold December day in Northern Wisconsin nearly eleven years ago with twelve days before Christmas to go. When I drove up to choose which pup, as it turned out, he chose me. Sweet, patient, willing and such a mama's boy. Never a more remarkable gentle giant have I met. He embodied everything a Newfoundland is supposed to be. Truly the epitome of the breed. I wish that somehow, the perfect that he was could find its way into every Newf. Dr. Julie Siefert, you bred the most perfect dog ever. Our hearts are broken. Godspeed sweet, sweet boy.

OMG, so very sorry. He was a half brother to my Evan, Noah was their father. Heartbreaking. Cherish all those wonderful memories you have of him.

So sorry to hear of Bart's passing, Rona.
I met him a couple of times and he was so handsome and sweet.
Prayers for your family.
Such a tough week here at newf.net.

Rona, I am sorry to hear about Bart. Too many of these older newfs are leaving us this week. Bart makes 5 that has passed this week on NN. Praying for you.

I am so very sorry for your loss. He certainly sounds like he was such a wonderful boy.

It's so sad to see all these NN oldsters (or i should say, originals) passing on. Especially so many in one week:(

They dig their way into our hearts and then leave us too soon. I'm so sorry you lost Bartlett but I'm happy that you were lucky enough to find each other.
