At what age has anyone noticed their newf pup slowing and calming down? My boy is almost 8 months ( this is my first newf I have had Akitas in the past ( and a great dane ) and I have noticed that ge has calmed down quite a bit. He will still run around at the park and pull anytime he sees anyone so he can up to them to lick off their face, but at home he just lays around now and in the backyard he will go to the bathroom and then is ready to come in. Just curious at what did they start calming down.

Dakota has almost always been the same. She is a wild woman right when we get home from work and then 10 min later is passed out. Now if there are other dogs around this of course doesn't apply and she plays till she can play no more. She will be 2 in March.

Depends. My Adam slowed down by the time he was one. When Samantha was 4 I was still waiting for her to slow down. Chase did around 3.

Merlin was always slow & laid back;
Tiki, on the other hand, is only 10 1/2 months old & he is still a wildman, he is more like my border collie, a high energy newf!Depends on the individual dog.

Sherman is 3 and has always been pretty laid back, even as a puppy.
Leroy is 18 months and shows no signs of calming down, he has been a spaz since a puppy!

Hugo will be 10 in January. When he's in the mood (which is often - LOL), there is no slowing him down. Piper is 6 1/2 and as busy as Hugo. Sure they are calm most of the time, but there's no end to the mischief they can find around the house. It's one of the things I like best about them. Laughter is good for the soul.

ozzy is 5 and although he is not a puppy anymore he sure can be amazingly active but i believe he did start to slow somewhat around 4. my female stevie was 8 months old when i got her seemed to have a more laid back attitude but i would not call her slowed down, she is quite active. but she will actually lie down when tired, ozzy i still have to remove from activities if i think he may be overdoing it.

Leo and Ursa are only one month apart in age (about 3 1/2 now) and Ursa, who has been nuts from the beginning, continues to act like a six month old. Leo was never as wild as her, and now he much prefers being the velcro Newf with someone petting on him than running around with his "sister." However, playing chase around the dining room table? They both never tire of that game!

Anya will be 4 in January. She is still quite active...nothing like the goldens I have had...she's a couch potato compared to them, but she loves to run around and chase more than the other two dogs.

One reason that I first chose the Newfoundland breed was because they are "calm" dogs. Well, nobody told almost 3 year old, Seamus, that!
