Another torn cruciate "I think"

Since I got the Field Turf, the dogs have become more interactive and playful. Akira has been initiating the play. They are never usually playful and I am always out there with them worried someone will get hurt.

Well I think Akira tore her cruciate. Never heard a sound...or a peep of an OUCH. In a NY Minute she is toatally toe touching and walking on 3 legs. UGH UGH UGH

Jane came by and lent me a sling and is taking us to Dr. Wen tomorrow.

Damn Stoic theses dogs are. I may have to forget National

If you can.. keep fingers, toes and paws crossed that it isn't so.

Oh no, Patty! I hope it is just a sprain. The Nationals are 2 weeks away and hopefully you will have things under control by then. Let me know if you need anything. Sending good thoughts to Akira! Let us know what Dr. Wen says.

Patty I'll keep everything crossed here. Hopefully it isn't serious. I remember once Jake was limping pretty bad....also toe touching....but when we took him in to be examined and exrayed ... all looked good. He somehow managed to get a soft tissue injury...not sure how... and within 3 or 4 days he was good as new...running around the yard. Lets hope this is the same with Akira. Poor sweet girl. Give her a hug from me.

Wow - there have been SO many of these lately. Keeping fingers crossed that it's NOT the cruciate.

I hope Akira is well. It hurts so much when our furbabies are in pain. Even if they don't complain we know because there smiles are missing. Travis and I are sending hugs and well wishes for you both.

Well it was a pleasure going to Dr. Wen. He said this is not a new injury. She most likely had a partial tear now it's completely torn. He said her leg has atrophied since she isn't fully using it when she walks.
I am opting for the holistic alternative over surgery. He put her on Hip Guard herbs and we have a follow up visit in 3 weeks. He said it will take 6-9 months but she "should" heal. I have to start walking her twice a day to build the muscle tone back up.
We have had on and off limping for the first few days but the limp has gone away. I have to leash walk her in the yard so she cant dash off after a squirrel or something.
Thanks for all the well wishes. I will keep you posted on her progress.
