Meniscus injury... 1 year post TTA

Has anyone had a dog that damaged their meniscus long after a cruciate repair? The ortho surgeon confirmed at the time of Pari's cruciate repair that the meniscus was intact at that point in time. We have a consult tomorrow with the ortho vet, but it is highly likely that she has managed to...

    Coopers new outfit

Hi guys. I guess I should be thanking all of you for my snazzy new life vest. Mum and Dad think it will give me confidence to try to swim this summer. Sheesh, I'm not afraid of swimming! I just don't like to get my pretty fur wet! I've got to look good for the ladies you know? Here is my new...

    Talk like a Newfoundland!

I've got Tibetan MAstiffs. They are barkers. Period. Nighttime barkers. And boy - can they go on and on and on and on and.... well, you get the point. But just barking. And an occassional hmph, sigh, hmph if we don't take care of their needs quickly enough. So I'm completely in love with the...

    Popping noise - rear hips

My first two Tibetans didn't have this issue. My Tibetan Rescue - Khabo - did. His hips would make a popping noise. We had him examine by an ortho vet while he was still growing and the vet believed it was a laxity issue. It went away as he matured and he is now my most athletic dog. In...

How to Kiss: an instructional video for Newfs

Cooper has had to put his Therapy visits on hold temporarily while the Mama nurses his broken sister back to full four legged status. To keep himself gainfully employed, he decided to make an instructional video for his fellow flooger flingers. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iSlXgpgmgC8

    FB Site Issues

Is anyone else having issues with FB? It hasn't let me log on since early this afternoon. It keeps saying that my profile is temporarily unavailable due to site maintenance. But I haven't seen that anyone else is having issues! Grrrrrr... I'm losing valuable socialization time!

Video: NN Pari one week after ACL surgery

Tomorrow will be exactly one week since the TTA repair on her knee (fully torn cruciate, intact meniscus). I think she's doing fantastic - this is video during a potty break (our of respect for her highnesses regal nature, I stopped the video just short of her actual potty break)...

NN Pari post surgery (day 2 - with pictures - may be graphic)

She's doing great. And I'm pretty certain she is limping to a much lesser degree than she was yesterday. Mark comes home tonight and he hasn't seen her since before the surgery, so I'm curious to see if he thinks the same thing. Pari has decided that she hates the "icing" portion of the rehab...

Pari is home after her cruciate surgery

She seems to be doing really well. I've been with her all afternoon and she hasn't cried hardly at all. She is limping post surgery exactly the same as she was pre-surgery. I'm impressed. I thought she'd come home on three legs, but she's putting some weight on the forth leg. She hasn't...

Alternatives to the post op "cone"?

Has anyone used anything other than the cone for their dog that works? Pari is a LICKER on her shaved areas. But she is also a fiasco with a cone - walks into doorways so that it jams into her, knocks things over, has walked with her head down and stuck it into the carpet.... Since she'll be...
