I was just reading on another forum that one woman who put her dog on microlactin for joint issues ended up seeing it also help the dog's IBD immensley! I'd be real happy if something other than antibiotics could help Roger's IBD!

I would be curious to know if anyone's dog had any side effects to this?
MICRO LACTIN FROM SWISS HERBAL CLINICALLY PROVEN FAST ACTING JOINT PAIN RELIEF.

Swiss MicroLactin is a unique product that promises much success in the way of better joint mobility and less pain. With 500 mg per capsule those supplementing with Swiss MicroLactin have reported pain relief within as little as 1 to 2 weeks of regular use. Swiss Herbal MicroLactin is carefully manufactured in New Zealand, where it is produced from pasture fed dairy cows that are antibiotic and hormone free. This safe and effective formula is unlike conventional drug therapies; Swiss MicroLactin produces no side effects or contraindications and is safe to take with other natural joint care products. [CAPSULE]

This what I found out about it. I assume though that if a dog is allergic to milk there would be a problem.

Yes, those who are lactose intolerant might have an issue although it's mostly lactose free...it does still have some. The impact of that would be diarrhea. Not sure about a milk allergy, which isn't the same thing. That usually would result in hives, swelling, or other various skin issues. If it's a bad enough allergy it could cause serious difficulty with breathing/anaphalactic shock. (Like peanuts do in many people)

If your dog can eat cheese, cottage cheese, ice cream, butter, yogurt, without any effects, it would be fine.

Ask Susan or Jeannie . I'm giving 1000mgm twice a day.

I sent a pm to Donna as well cause I'm not sure if I continue with the Osteo Bi Flex and other supplements he is getting. He just had 4 more cartrophen shots but I fear his back end is getting weaker. He either tripped or lost strength coming up the stairs and geting on the bed last night. Even with his step. I have had him in the pool once and will be putting him in again today. With his jacket I can tether him and when he tries to swim for the stairs I hold him in place sort if like treading water. I'm sure he can't figure out why his legs are moving but he is not going anywhere.

I think I read that it would not interfere with other supplements one gives. I also think that Susan and Jeannie are giving about 3000 mgm daily.
That link looks like a very good deal as the ones I bought here are only 500 mgm 120 caps for $21 something.
I have now put Evan on it for his elbow arthritis.

Poor Murphy, give him a hug from us here. The swimming will be good for him.

For what it's worth I had a discussion with our vet about glucosame supplements the other day. Her view is that most do not absorb well in dogs and they recommend Dasuquin. They wanted $118 for 150 with MSM for large dogs. I choked and passed. Ordered from Amazon for $67 and change. Dogs like it, apparenty good tasting. Vet said these people are now making a human version

I plan on continuing with Dasuquin for Angus (which he is on now) in addition to the Duralactin. Also will be giving Duralactin to Emmy for her myositis, hoping it will help with muscle support and inflammation.

Question.... Buddy's x-rays indicate some joint problems, however at this time he's not suffering any discomfort or issues from it. The vet recommended glucosamine supplements - I'm wondering now if duralactin would also be recommended now, or only if it becomes an issue for him?

(I tell ya though - with the positive reviews I am seriously thinking I should order some for myself)

I'm going to continue giving other supplements. Including Wild Salmon Oil, and Gycoflex III (a glucosomine/MSM joint supplement).

Ray is on Ascriptin daily for ED, and I plan to stop that because it's an NSAID. One thing I'm not sure of is using it with NSAIDs. They thin the blood and so do many other herbal anti-inflammatories. I don't know about this. Haven't seen anything about it's blood thinning properties.

Hmmm...wonder if I should use it for Emmy then, since she's on a maintenance dose of pred. Gluco/cond also have blood thinning properties, as does Vit E. and some forms of Vit C.
