wide toothed coarse grooming comb

I went to crufts yesterday and oohed and aahed over the wide selection of doggy items, always amazes me the choice of things you can buy.

I have a poodle comb for our dogs but find it tends to dig into the skin a bit too much for my liking but it is great on undercoat. At the show I found a comb that had the metal pins but more widely spaced and blunter and also a larger wooden handle.

Unfortunately at £20 $30 too expensive for my wallet at the moment but I cant find the card I got from them in case I am ever lucky enough to have a healthy bank balance.

Can anyone give me any idea what type it could have been as I have trawled the net without any success

I wish I could have but some owners dont like it, there were some beautys but of all the newfs I saw I came home to the best ones, my beautiful Beaus ashes and photo and the pita Munchkin who compared to some I saw is incredibly gorgeous.

I must admit I tend to err towards the newfs who have that glint in their eye that means they are probably little sods so if you ever cannot cope with Owain there is a good home here for him .

I always think at Crufts though that they need to improve their benchs for the dogs as the newfy ones arent big enough.

You can see some of the stuff here www.channel4.com/programmes/crufts

thanks soundbay but I have one of these and found it digs into my gsd's skin a bit too much. The one I saw had a larger handle and the teeth were more widely spaced, just the price was too much at the moment .

Based on the recommendation of someone here are NN, I bought 2 Resco #80 combs (like these). I love them. The have a handle that is comfy to me, and the tips of the teeth are nicely rounded so I don't feel like I will scratch Suki with them. The price at this particular site I linked seems good compared to other places on a quick search (though I have never bought from this site). When I bought mine (I don't remember from where) I paid $20 for one and $5 for the other. I don't know why the one was so cheap. I also have a rake which grabs a lot of hair and a slicker brush (which has very pokey teeth that I must be too rough with because Suki doesn't like that one, so I rarely use it). But I use the Resco combs more than anything else.

I consider what Joan & MaryLou have posted to be rakes as opposed to combs. I really prefer a comb but also find that the teeth are usually too sharp.

I had one like Joan's, only it had the wooden handle on one end, like a traditional comb. Got it at either Pet Edge or the local pet supply store. I need another one, because Traveler ate the wooden handle. ;0( Didn't spend more than about $5.00 or $6.00 for it.
