So we finally made it to New Jersey! We've been here three weeks and I don't know why people think no one is friendly on the east coast.
Honestly, I think it's Suki who is making the friends! lol.
When we drove out, our car had temporary tags because we hadn't been able to get our CO license plates before we left. Naturally, getting New Jersey plates for the car was not a simple process. And of course, our tags expired right after we got here. But yesterday we finally got out plates and can legally drive on the roads again! So we are ready to take a trip to the beach!!!!!!! My kids have never been to the Atlantic Ocean and neither has Suki (Suki has never been to any ocean)!!! They have seen the Pacific and the Indian oceans, I think (it's hard to tell exactly where one ocean stops and another begins!).
So can you guys recommend which beach we should visit? We are coming from around Morristown, and I think we could drive up to 2 hours. We are just doing a day trip. But Suki has to be allowed on the beach and it should be safe for the kids to go in the water also. And we'll need there to be someplace to get something to eat also. That doesn't have to be right at the beach though. I've looked online, but I'm getting confused about if dogs really are allowed and it's hard to tell what a good choice really is. But I figured you guys will know the best!
Also, is there anything special we need to bring? I know towels and changes of clothes for the kids and bags for poop clean ups. The movers haven't arrived yet with any of our stuff, so what I have is very limited (I think I only have enough towels for everyone to have one! lol). And I don't have my dryer yet, so will Suki ever air dry on her own? It is so humid here compared to Colorado, I kind of think I don't ever dry, really .... And can I just let Suki off leash? She is good at staying near us, but she does not have a rock solid recall. I didn't bring my long lead and only have the short one. Do you think she would just swim out to sea and never come back?
Thanks for your help!!!!
