we used atravelling carry cot for transporting and also keeping puppies safe when we neeed to clean them and the area tey were in, was easy to put into our mpv as we put a board under it and sack barrowed it into our vets. It also helped as we could keep them warmer in it and we had a 12v heater fan blowing on them to keep them warm.
we also found Jessie kept stopping during the birth and we kept feeding her during those periods plus we gave her the lactating bitch powdered milk then as well. Her process took 10 hours so navy style coffee and chocolate were a must.
I have to admit we wouldn't do it again as we don't have the facilities but as we rescued Jessie it was something we took on.
I dont know how true it is but we were old raspberry leaf was supposed to be good to give to a pregnant bitch to help them with the birthing. I don't know how true that is but a possibility to be checked out perhaps.
Get as much sleep now and also when the pups are being weaned keep a mop bucket close by so you can enter the area without stepping in poo or pee, a good pair of wellingtoon boots was a must as by the time they scratched your legs trying to get to the food we were red raw.
Also prepare as much food between feeds as possible as when they are on two to four hour feeds its very tiring
