Great post! Piper is 20 months now and has calmed down considerably. She still gets bored and does things to get our attention, but she is way calmer.

Good for you. You worked hard for this time.

Now, I'm wondering when the selective hearing issues go away? :banghead:

How about that. I had noticed that you were not posting with problems as much as earlier. Good for you. Good for Hemi. And, once again, :roflmao: we were all right. A wonderful Newfoundland is not born that way, they are made, with a lot of work, determination, blood, sweat, and tears. See - now you are counseling others, just like we did you. --- Just don't get cocky, he literally could jump up and bite you in the butt. Great job.

I love reading these kinds of posts. Just remember, the transformation wasn't magical. It took committment on your part and alot of hard work to get to this point. I applaud both of you and the others, four footed and two footed that have survived puppyhood. Believe me, it just keeps getting better and better.

Haha! Yes...I still don't trust Gilly not to knock over a senior or toddler so wouldn't leave her to her own devices, but when she had the perfect opportunity and DIDN'T do that I was busting with pride. It's just so nice to have them "turn into" the newfs we thought we were getting from the beginning :) Of course, I'll never underestimate a newf puppy again!

"So, for those of you out there in tears, covered in bruises and cuts, fearing you have the spawn of the devil in your little furball"

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! I was mentioning to Judy Yesterday that Tigger was no longer the Spawn of the Devil....................He He! Must be a common thought!

So true. It took Brody 5+ years to settle down but he did. Of course it IS summertime so I'll see if he turns back to his naughty self once fall hits.

Great post! I had a friend scream at his Newf once (we were water training) that if that dog didn't turn around and return to shore he was going to paddle after it and beat her to death with an oar....(joking, of course), but thanks for the memories. LOL

PS: the following week said Newf got her water title ;o)

I cannot tell you how many times I threatened to stuff Maggie into a shoebox and mail her back.

She's now three, and I find myself talking fondly of how she used to gallop through the house and jump off the arms of every couch, loveseat and chair. I still call her Satan's Sister, but more out of habit. She retained her goofy personality, but hasn't tried to kill me in about a 6 months now. I kinda miss it.

Glad to hear the good news!!!! My Merlin was a headache who aged me drastically in the first 3 years of his life. He is now almost 6 and has finally calmed down a little, but I still call him "My Forever Puppy"...Hint, Hint...:bandit:
