HI all,

I haven't been on in a real long time and I am sorry for that...things have been very nuts this summer....anyway I saw a listing in my penny sacer for two newfs...they are full blooded, 2 1/2 years old....and there owner has passed away...I guess no one would take them so they are at the Putnam Humane Society in Carmel, NY...not far from Westchester. There picture is at this site http://www.puthumane.org/dogz2.htm
about half way down the page names are Wilbur and Molly , I think....They look very sweet kind of like my Kylie and Duncan...Would love to take them but DH says are two are more then enough...I wrote an e-mail to the rescue person at Bear Mountain Newf Club and posted on Newf-L but figured there might be sdomeone on the list who might know some one...

Wow, Shelley, they do look like Duncan and Kylie!! Oh come on, Rich, what is two more! ;) What a shame they lost their daddy and need a home! I hope they will find one soon! I hope you will post it on our LI board, too.

I wonder why they didn't contact the breeders of the dogs? It looks doubtful that they came from the same breeder, and the breeders probably don't know that the owner passed away.

Maybe they don't know the breeders? Maybe they don't know they should?

If the Newfs have papers, perhaps the rescue (or shelter) could contact the breeder(s). But that's assuming it was an ethical breeder who would take the dog(s) back.

I'd know if one of my puppy owners passed away because we communicate every few months, at a minimum.

We were at water practice this morning and BMNC Rescue were with the dogs yesterday. There is a man who already has a Newf that wants them both and he is 2nd on their list. Ever effort is being made to keep them together. It is my understanding that the papers were offered to the shelter, but the shelter did not want them and cannot give the name of the previous owner. Supposedly this owner has two more Newfs at home.

Are BMNC and Northland affiliated? I believe it's Northland Newfoundland Club's Rescue who has the two dogs.

I had inquired about their status and got an email back that they had pulled them yesterday, and are trying to place them together.

YAY!!

Donna,
I believe Lynn-Anderson Powell who is BMNC rescue contact lives in the Albany area and is a involved with Northland too. We saw video clips (from a cell phone) of the two...Maggie and Wilbur, I think and they both look so sweet and loving. Hopefully they are together and on their way to a orever home.
