Brinks had xray done today for followup and thankfully everything according to surgeon has "healed nicely". His advice was that we could start with some short walks now and start building up some muscle and see how he handles that. Thank goodness....because I think he has mentally thrown the "quarantine sentence" out the window this week and was about to try and break free!!!

He does however have about every 2 inches or so along the side of his incision a small dry crust of a tiny scab. Vet says it is some "suture rejection" and that it doesn't look like anything I should worry about...however....I AM worried. Any advice someone could offer me would be appreciated on this. I always like to try and prepare myself and know what to expect or look for.

Other than that he says no need to go back unless a problem should arise. In the meantime...I'll continue to play it safe and no stairs yet or running around like a bronco bull. (I do miss seeing him do the bronco bull routine with his cheeks flying all over the place on certain afternoons though  that always gave me a good laugh)

Sounds positive Carmela. :sunflower:

I can't believe he doesn't have to go back !! Can't help with the suture thing but I think Jess dealt with that with Gabe.

All sounds really good.....As for the scab at the end of the suture line. As long as it does not get hot or have a pussy colored drainage it should be fine. Suture lines often have some body reaction, because it does not belong. It is just the way the body reacts.
Sending positive healing thoughts and lots of :hugs: to you both, Ronnie

Thank you so much for the insight about the suture line. So far its just a little spot of a scab every 2 inches but no puss or funny color about it. I'd feel much better if they weren't there but as we all know around here...nothing is perfect.

I should of been more clear Jen....we go back in 6 months for another check..UNLESS there is a problem and he starts limping again or not putting weight on that leg.

Vet said if that should happen to just rest him again for a day or two and start the process of walking once he seems better. If he doesn't get better then we bring him in. So far we're taking it easy and he's just happy to be out of the "yard" and out front where he gets all the attention from the neighborhood. His front leg seem to "shake" though when standing still....don't know if thats a signal that he's in pain or just a normal thing??? Anybody have a thought about that?

I'm no expert ( well actually I kind of am ) but I would say that it is just loss of muscle mass..
