The vet called with the final Histograph and cytology info on Thunder. Mostly it's still inconclusive. There were bullae in the lungs which would lead one to suspect a pneumothorax, although a chest tap got no air. Thunder's lungs were collapsed. The blood and tissue samples grew out no bacteria in 5 days.Originally posted by New2Newfs:
So sorry to hear of your loss. Please let us know what you find out. His loss may help someone else's newf, by giving us signals to watch for. Thanks for posting the picture of Thunder, Sam, and Sara. He was a gorgeous boy.
This is such a wonderful thought. Thank you.Originally posted by Moose's Mom in Indy:
But this new angle was small and afraid and needed something big and strong to lean on and to guide her to safety.
Because your Thunder was so special and big and strong God chose him to guide His new little angle home.
I know this sounds silly and childish but in some small way I hope it helps you.
The autopsy showed no tumors, no infection, just collapsed lungs and a bullae causing pneumothorax and respiratory arrest which then led to cardiac arrest.Originally posted by janices:
Did the vet by chance look for any tumors that may have burst and caused the fluid build up?
The kind of tumor that we found when Linsey hemorrhaged the other common site is the heart area, hemangiosarcoma, tumor originating from blood vessels, have a tendency to be variable in size. The vet found it in the spleen and liver in Linsey's case. She had passed her annual and geriatric blood tests and we never knew it was there until it burst and she hemorrhaged. It was sudden when it happened.
