Citizenship Award there! Maybe you could see if the town/city would give them a good citizen award. Glad only minor damage and no injuries

Great story! Thank God for his fast thinking, he took care of everything important. Getting the humans out first and then the pups.

Sheila~ its so nice to hear about the kindness of strangers I lost my home to a fire May 7, 2009 and a stranger also broke down my door and was able to get Mia out but he couldnt save Oliver for me to this day I think about him often and have no idea who he was I do remember talking to him and he told me he was so sorry he couldnt save Oliver with tears in his eyes. Im so glad your family and newfies are safe :)

Sheila, so glad everyone was ok, and thank GOD for that couple! I lost my home to a fire in 2004. Everything. gone. Including 3 cats. I WISH that someone had noticed. We were not home at the time, and the cats succumbed to the smoke. :( Most of my neighbors just stood around and didn't offer any kind of comfort, as we cried and wailed in anguish. It was awful, very voyeuristic (I am sure they just didn't know what to SAY...but God, say something). I still have not forgotten that.

I am so glad that your dogs were safe! (and of course, your family!)
