This sweet girl is the recipient of the generosity of Jenn and Dawn. Abby was born with carpal valgus (severe easty-westy front limb deformity.) It didn't slow her down, she ran and swam with my dogs for a few years until I moved from my old neighborhood.
I've been grooming her for 5 years. A year ago she tore her right ACL and it was repaired with a 'lateral suture' or traditional method. She had complications with anesthesia but recovered. While I was transitioning from one grooming shop to another back in May, she went to another groomer. When her owners picked her up, she was totally unable to stand on her own. She was taken immediately to the E-vet where it was determined that her old surgery had failed and her left ACL ruptured.
Due to her past difficulty with anesthesia she is not a candidate for surgery. They feel she may heal, given time but it has put additional strain on her forelimbs. She is still very much interested in being with her family. She's 6 years old and her family loves her very much. She's coming in for a smoothy groom next week, it should make her more comfortable and give her better hygiene, since squatting is very difficult for her right now.
I asked on Facebook if anyone who had used a Help 'Em Up Harness could give some feedback, and low and behold, the offer to send one immediately was made by Jenn. This is a true pay-it-forward gesture, overwhelming generosity, and a testament to Newf people having hearts as big as these dogs.
